I don't think anyone criticized you, but rather the radio. And you fly what you can afford to fly, don't let anyone else's opinion get to you. :)

Dj. I have a 6 as well. My planes fly just fine. :) Is there a bit more performance available when the budget allows an upgrade to an 8? Yep. Would I stress out about it if all you can afford is a 6? Nope.

Granted I'm still new into all this but that's my simple opinion. :)

Fly low and have fun.

Alright sounds good. But using a DX6i is one of the top 10 reasons why a plane doesn't fly right? That seems a bit overboard IMHO... LOL

Excited to soon have more than 1 flyable plane :D

Happy flying!

Dan,

You should listen to the podcast to get the details, but the main issue he has with the DX6i is that it doesn't allow you to set the travel adjusts to get the extreme throws you want on a 3D bird.

Put 4 flights on it Christmas Day. That's the last I've been out. 18 inches of snow on the ground at the moment. Lol. Been too windy the last couple of days. Of course any kind of wind and 25 degree temps make it a bit chilly. Next calm day ill get out there.

No worries about your maidens you'll be fine. Just get it in the air and fly it around. :) you'll quickly realize that while it feels different in the air it still turns left, it still turns right, goes up and down, and rolls upside down and right side up just like the foamie.

Well I'm sorry that I bought a good quality radio... sheesh, I hate it when people criticize me because I bought something that they think is bad. You know, some of us can't afford a $360 radio, sorry. :( If I did have that kind of money, I would be all over a DX8 or 8FG. But as it is, I'm making less than $1 a day from YouTube.

So leave me alone! :p

:)

Dan, I made my comment about the radio, not you, and expressed hope it wouldn't limit you:

Either way, the Dx6 made Ben Fisher's top 10 reasons why a plane won't fly right... Hopefully Dan can work around this limitation.

I've supported your endeavors in the past, with help and advice, and financially. We're all happy to have you back and active on this forum, and we will be pulling for you on your rebuild and second go with the 41" Edge.
If you want to know why Ben Fisher doesn't like the DX6i, take a listen here: http://directory.libsyn.com/episode/index/show/3dhobbyshop/id/2128141

Yah I remember that being the reason. You can get those throws you need by using longer servo arms but you lose some of the power of the servo by doing that and risk dealing with blowback issues degrading performance. Having an 8 would just let us drive the servos as far as we need without extended arms giving us more torque. Someday I will upgrade. Maybe this spring or early summer.

I could've sworn that the DX6i allows you to set up to like 150% throws... but I guess I'm wrong, huh. I'm not going to be doing any crazy 3D stuff so it should be fine. Can't you just set the expo to over 100% to get more throws, anyways?

:)
