I didn't care for the feel of the 70cc version, the wing loading is just about perfect on the 100cc version. I'd be curious what you would do to lighten one up other than core the wings out pre and post sheeting and add a tuned pipe. I do have somewhat of a tunnel for a pipe, but most likely not enough room for double pipes for a 100cc. Double pipes or single pipe for a 70cc, we'd have to talk and get some dims to make sure they would fit but it may be close.

I got a pair of 35cc Plane Bender pipes into the 103 inch 3DHS 330.

Just installing radio gear and fuel tank now. Hope to maiden this coming weekend ;)

What's the length of those pipes from F-1 to just before the stinger starts down on that plane? Also what's the dia of each pipe and distance between? As long as it does not require relocating the main floor I can make a few mods to the gear area simply enough. moving the main floor can also be done but will take more mods. Could be cool.

I will measure that up when I get home later this evening.

Oops, forgot to take a picture of the installation of the fuse top plate. Imagine if you will the top plate and about 60 little clamps:smile-new: Again, planning ahead after the test fit helps a lot since glue open time should be kept to a minimum.

Next is to finish the tail section with the rudder servo support bracket, external tailwheel plate and former.

Next there is a cross memeber that adds strength to the top just in front of the turtle deck. I set these on the outside and mark where to cut them at an angle to butt up against the formers. Simple cut and glue in.

Next is the landing gear plate which will also get aluminum bracket installed above it and butt against the backside of F-1. Also I installed the bottom landing gear area plates that are also engine heat exits which are very effective.

And lastly, the final former. Glued and clamped. I've not had one come out not square or straight yet, but this is the first one that I have assembled having used no flat table at all. Everywhere I put a level or square it is right on.

All that's left for the fuse is a few fillers for servos, two small fillers with blind nuts for the cowl (I'm going to wait till my cowl is closer).

If I had cut myself an entire kit I would have already had foam in the vacuum but that will be the next step. Since this is a fourth and final prototype I am going to start working on the cowl mold a little more tomorrow.

You WHAT!!! Dave didn't........... Dave is a good dood, and glad to call him a friend. Hawkeye Diamond Dave Dazzler better bring that airpalne around these parts and show up a little more often! :)

Having now the option for a kit, makes me want to build a kit....... I get sick of these ARF's.......

The thing I find most strange having taught myself to fly on ARF's and only owning ARF's up to three years ago......is how you can actually "feel" the rigidity of a nice foam core solid plane in the air. They just seem to lock in better, it's hard to describe but I like it!!

Install length from the front of F1 to the back of the stinger curve. 25.75 inches.

to just before the curve is about 25 inches.

pipe diameter is 2 1/8 inch

Gap between is 5/8

I'm back at work now. But I just realized that stand off length needs to be considered for you to get a proper length fit.

because F1 to the back of the spinner might be different on you viper than this 330.

I didn't measure exactly. But my standoff is 1.75 inch plus the length of the DA70

Like it said on the side of one of my Cardens..... "Theres something about it!!"

A kit build is so much better than an arf, in so many ways. Flight characteristics is a big one for me. Not everyone has "your" scheme. Not to mention the pride factor.
