Discussion The I’m Going/Went Flying Thread

I went flying all three days of the holiday weekend. 62" Osiris electric pattern airplane on Saturday, 120cc Extra on Sunday, and electric pylon racer today. The most flying I've done in quite awhile. We had some new guys at the field. A local club lost there field and we offered to let them...

    89" SkyWing Laser 260 V2 Assembly Thread

I've become very interested in Skywing lately. One of our club members Ryan has the 120cc version of this in the same scheme. Very cool airplane. Ryan, as @pawnshopmike can tell you could 3D an anvil, so it's hard to judge how good it is, but it looks like the airframe is great. Yesterday a...

Discussion The I’m Going/Went Flying Thread

Went flying yesterday and took my 62" 3D Hobbies Osiris. I bought this from a friend at the club a few weeks ago and it's a great flying airplane. He had told me it flew great in the wind and yesterday I found out he was right. It makes me remember why I love pattern airplanes so much.

Discussion The I’m Going/Went Flying Thread

We had a rare visit from my buddy Tony's big Sukhoi this Sunday. It's 9 years old and still looks and flies awesome. I didn't get to fly it this time unfortunately. :( I don't think I've shared any finished at the field pictures of the Ultimate I did for him last year so here are a few. I...

We've got a ton of EDFs at my field. They are a blast to fly. Most of them fly awesome, and are way easier than the old ducted fan days.;)

The 'What did you do in your workshop tonight?' thread

I bought the V5 because my Fender Twin Reverb needs tubes, a bias adjustment, could use speakers, weighs 90 pounds and 85 watts is WAAAAY to much in the house. ;) I have a Positive Grid Spark on order if they ever decide to actually ship it.

The 'What did you do in your workshop tonight?' thread

I haven't posted in quite a while, but I ran into @pawnshopmike this past weekend at an event at my club and we talked a bit about the site. He suggested I post some pics of what I've been doing lately even though it's not airplane related. When all the COVID crap started they closed our...

The Ultimate I've been working on for the past...... forever, is finally gone. Now I finally get to work on my own airplanes! I've got the Byron P-51 on the bench so I can figure out what I need to get this thing flying. The airplane was built about 20 years ago and never flown. I bought it this...

It's been a bit, but the Ultimate is done! It left for it's home Thursday night. I still need to help him with the setup, and he's going to rig the rudder, do the baffling, and add some B&E graphics, but it's gone!

I’m going out flying thread 2019

Went flying yesterday. It was mid 60's and sunny. The black sweatshirt I was wearing was too much in the sun. 24 hours later......... sleet, than snow, high winds and lots of cold.:face-palm:

The materials cost for the 450' x 45' Geotex runway was about $6000 with staples, sealer, and shipping. We bought five 300' x 15' rolls and have half a roll left.

The camera makes it look wider than the first one, but it's the same. It is longer than the first one at 450'.

I decided I really needed to wire the wings first so I could finalize the strut wiring before I paint them white. I used multiplex plugs for the wing to fuselage connection and for the wiring that goes through the struts to the top wing. Because of the wing rib location where the strut bolts on...

Well after just shy of 25 years, it's time to replace my truck/airplane hauler. It's gotten so rusty in the last few years I'm waiting for the whole rear cross-member that holds the spare tire to fall out. The replacement is a Ford Flex I bought damaged from one of my customers. I used it this...

Here are some drone shots of the new runway. I'm waiting to hear back from Chris the guy that ran the project on the cost of the Geotex and staples. Chris is one of those guys good clubs can't do without. He ran the new pavilion project and the runway project. Anyone that's tried to get people...
