The 'What did you do in your workshop tonight?' thread

My workshop this Saturday, was the flying field. We installed our new Geotex North South runway. It's 450' x 45' and tees into the existing East West runway we did about 6 or so years ago. Out of our 100 or so members, we had 27 people show up to help. I voted for this runway, even though it...

Looks like your getting her done! Glad to see your using the doors and deck lid to check the fit. As common sense as that sounds, you wouldn't believe how many people hang quarters with out the doors on and then don't understand why the gaps are so bad.:ugh!: Don't be afraid to hack, slash, and...

I’m going out flying thread 2019

All week the weather guessers were forecasting rain and thunderstorms for today, but as usual, wrong! It was pretty hot and very humid for the last few days in September, but a nice day for flying. The Su-31 makes Miss Moana look tiny.:oblong:

Krill 39% Ultimate 300KS Assembly And Paint

The Ultimate fuselage is back on the bench. Tonight I'm going to start wiring it. It's doubtful I will do any real wiring, just a lot of brain storming about what goes where and what I need to get it done. I've already decided to make my own aileron harnesses. None of the pre-made ones from...

I’m going out flying thread 2019

This Saturday we had our 9/11 Memorial/Pavilion Dedication/Club Picnic/25th Anniversary. I took Miss Moana since I haven't flown it in a year and a half. I changed from a 23 x 8 to a 22 x 10 and I really like the results. It sped up the top end, but also sped up the landings. I have a tendency...

And the funny thing is after all the hard work and time and regrets about even starting the project, all that disappears after the first successful flight.

I heard Ryan lost his Havoc EDF there. At least he got a bit more use out of his than another member who's went in on the third flight. I watch Ryan fly his on Labor day and man did he put on a show!:)

There are a few dust nibs here and there. I will probably sand and buff some of it. The top wing is so easy to see on a biplane I'll more than likely polish it and a few other spots.

OS. 155FS-a Alpha Series Pumped 4-Stroke Glow Single

Inverted glow engines are a little harder to deal with than upright or horizontal mounted ones. Being inverted is not a problem for gas engines.

The new pavilion at the field is almost done. Just a ridge cap and some gable end trim left. They also started prepping for the new Geotex on the North South side runway. So we'll have Geotex on the East West and North South.

I finally got the wings painted yesterday. I cannot believe how much time I spent on them. I have literally painted whole cars faster.:ugh!:

The NEW King of Standard Size Servos - HSR-M9382TH

Most people have there favorite brand. I can say I was a Futaba Junkie for my first 15 years, and I wouldn't use anything else. Back around 2000 when I was building and repairing turbine jets for people I had a guy that was a JR user and I got to where I really started to like there stuff. I...

The NEW King of Standard Size Servos - HSR-M9382TH

I wanted to buy some PM servos for my 107" Super Decathlon but heard there was an issue running them with Spektrum PowerSafe receivers. I emailed PM and got a very long explanation about how my Spektrum stuff was junk and I should change brands. Sorry, not giving up stuff that's been working...

The 'What did you do in your workshop tonight?' thread

For the now it will remain grass, but there is talk of some used Astroturf. We have another expenditure coming up. They are ordering the Geotex this week to do the North South runway. I have mixed emotions about adding the Geotex on that side. Right now the gassers pretty much have that side to...
