Sport CARF Pitts - Engine Upgrade

I spent all my money on planes. The only hot chicks I can afford comes from Zaxbys. Sent from my XT1080 using Tapatalk

That's about as close as I'll get to 4 smokin hot redheads. I heard a good line the other day... If I had a dollar for every hot chick that would turn me down, eventually they would like me.

    Show Me the Biplanes!!!!

That's a great looking plane... and I've always thought there was a market for a 100-120cc sized composite biplane. Looks like its designed without flying wires, which are always a pain in the arse to put on and take off.

I never new they made anything other than the S12 (which, by the way, never existed as a real Pitts!)

Sport CARF Pitts - Engine Upgrade

I tie it up to a deck post... hopefully it won't pull the deck down! I think I'm going to have to order a new lower cowl. I added louvers on the cowl to help with airflow on the radial. Unfortunately, now the canister exit tubes are going to be just enough in the way that they would make me...

OK... got the canister mounts installed, ignition installed on top of the motor dome, not much left to do except install the throttle linkage, route some fuel lines and start cranking on it! Maybe tomorrow I'll get to her it running. With the holidays and everything else going on, it's tough...

I remember years ago, when my son was in Cub Scouts, we took a couple of trips to stay the weekend on the USS Yorktown, an old WWII era aircraft carrier that's on permanent display at the Charleston, SC harbor area. The have several stationary displays of aircraft from many eras.... a corsair...

That explains it! I do remember seeing some of them painted up as Zeroes... I guess we shot all the real ones down! '

And I agree with Pistolera... the Moki should be a perfect fit for that Harvard. I just took a Moki 250 out of my CARF Pitts, now fitting a 3W 220 CS into it. The Moki had great power for scale flying, but not enough to keep a 50 pound biplane active on the uplines. Is there any difference...

I'd love to head up to Nall to meet you and many other great folks I've met through these websites. Unfortunately, for some reason, even though Nall is only about 2 hours from my house, I've never been there. I don't care to fly in crowds that size, but it would still make a great day trip just...

You should go ahead and get the plane finished then ship it to me. I can break it in (or up) for you and meet you at Nall with what's left! Sent from my XT1080 using Tapatalk

Sport CARF Pitts - Engine Upgrade

I ordered some Secraft canister mounts from Gerhard at AI.. and received a call from him today to tell me that he was closing out of his Secraft inventory... no can mounts available. So, I'll try the KS Soft mounts. I've used them many times in the past with great success, the only problem...

Sounds like a plan! At my pace, it may be next June, but we'll get it done eventually.

Sport CARF Pitts - Engine Upgrade

All done now. Well, the holes are drilled, anyway. I'll have to remove the motor again to install the canisters, throttle and probably a few other things, but the hard part is done. I stood the plane up on its tail, set the motor on the new motor dome, leveled the cylinders with the fuselage...

Sport CARF Pitts - Engine Upgrade

OK.. got a lot done over the past few days. I was able (finally) to separate the original plywood from the plastic motor dome, then sand all the residual glue off of the face. I smoothed out the plywood on the back side of the plastic motor dome as well as I could, and glued a new aircraft...
