I wanted another big bipe, but I didn't know Bill was coming out with one. I just finished the CompARF Pitts, having fun with it so far. I put a Moki 250 on it. It doesn't have real 3D torque and power, but it makes for some nice smoke filled scale aerobatics.

motor box top plate - ok to use screws or is epoxy a must

This is our second one also.. He's just over 2 now, only about 65 pounds, so he should stay fairly trim, but he only has 2 speeds... asleep, and WIRED! They usually settle down around 3 or so, so we're getting close.

    2-stroke oil,what works,what doesn't

Capt. Roll.. I saw your rebuild thread earlier.. nice job! As for the state of your piston and cylinder, they are certainly in good condition, and very little buildup on the top of the piston and head. If you're happy with the Stihl, stay with it. I've used Redline for years. A few years...

Why does an Ultimate seem to harrier so much smoother than a round call Pitts? I had one of the H9's years ago, you could harrier it around with very little correction, but the round cowls seem to always dance around on me. I HAVE to make it up to Nall next year. I'm maybe 3 hours away, and...

    3D Rebuilding the Compy MX2.

Thanks.. I'm not too concerned about the plane or my thumbs... but my eyes scare the schidt out of me! Last time, as fast as blinking my eyes, I went from casually flying my plane to having zero orientation. After a few more blinks, it wasn't getting any better, so I had to do something, it...

    3D Rebuilding the Compy MX2.

OK! The prescription glasses showed up today. It took just over a week, not bad. I went with Maui Jim's, rose colored, with polarized lenses that are supposed to block out 90% of the sunlight. Just walking outside, they seem to work great. I plan to go to the field tomorrow, fly my foamy...

motor box top plate - ok to use screws or is epoxy a must

Let us know how much the motor twists around when you get it started. And keep in mind that if motorr mounts fail, it's usually over time, and usually happens in a snap or other maneuver that just puts the forces beyond the strength of the weakened frame..... and the results are not pretty or...

DLE-111 Three Year Inspection & Overhaul

Great thread, and glad to see the motor is running well for you. I noticed that on your prop bolts, you have lock washers and standard washers. Have you ever considered Nordlocks? I went to them a few years ago. I still check the torque once in a while, but they've never loosened... fairly...

    Real Flight 7.5...

Eye, Captain! You just reminded me.. my son is in the Boy Scouts. He and I are going on a "high adventure" trip this summer, 5 days of sailing in the Florida keys, an event they call Sea Base. It should be a blast, and some great time with the other dads and sons, but... no booze or cigars...

motor box top plate - ok to use screws or is epoxy a must

While we're on the subject, I do have a question for everyone..... I've always assumed that the additional "pull" from an oversized motor would have little if any impact on wear of the firewall. If a DA100 had 30 pounds of pull, and a 120 has 40, since the plane weighs probably 28 and isn't...

I would also toss the standoffs in favor of a plywood ring that makes up at least half of that space. Hollow out the middle to save some weight of you want to. Just build out layers of ply until you get the thickness that you need, then laminate them together with some West Systems epoxy and...

    Real Flight 7.5...

I lived in Cherry Hill for a couple of years back in the late 80's.... hated every day of it. I wound up quitting my job just to move back to Georgia and look for work. Actually, NJ wasn't that bad, but it wasn't "home". We tried day trips in every direction to get acclimated to the area, but...
