    Build: EF 88" Edge 540T

I started last night by cutting the knuckles of the hinges with a cut off wheel. After carefully doing this, the rudder was pretty easy to remove. I didn't feel like smelling burning plastic so I haven't taken a soldering iron to the points yet. I then went to work on setting up the...

    Build: EF 88" Edge 540T

Well, I managed to get glue into some of the hinges for the rudder. I didn't work on it tonight, but I'll Dremel the hinge point knuckles and then remove most of the points with a soldering iron and then drill out the remaining to clean out the holes for all new hinges. Tonight I worked on...

    Build: EF 88" Edge 540T

Little more progress on the Edge tonight. I got the rudder hinges glued. On my 88" Extra, the rudder hinges eventually started to get sloppy and were close to breaking so I had to redo them. When I re-did the Extra, I added 2 extra hinges so I did the same for the rudder on the Edge. Not to...

    Build: EF 88" Edge 540T

Little more progress tonight. I got the left aileron hinges glued and worked on the getting the firewall set up for the motor. I had to remove a bit of material but it's close. I need to get a little more clearance for the fuel inlet on the carb and remove some material for the throttle...

What To Do About Teflon Coming Off of Flex Portion of Header

Yeah, it's the plumbers tape on the flex part.

What To Do About Teflon Coming Off of Flex Portion of Header

Ok, I'll see if I can get a knuckle header for a DA 60.

What To Do About Teflon Coming Off of Flex Portion of Header

I have a flex header for my DA 60 and the teflon is coming off of the flex portion. Not much oil residue is getting out. Do I need to fix this and what do I need to do? I can post pics later if need be but a storm is coming and I'm not interested in heading out to the shop to take some pics.

    Build: EF 88" Edge 540T

Little more progress tonight. I got the right aileron hinges glued and sealed the gaps on the elevators. I like to use Blenderm for sealing the hinge gaps. The two things I found that help is to not stretch the tape (should still be tight when applying though) and to have a fresh knife blade...

    Build: EF 88" Edge 540T

Little more progress last night. I got the elevators hinged. I'm using the Pacer Hinge Glue which is no longer available and you can see how I tested to see if it was still good. Just a Robart hinge in a scrap piece of 1/2" balsa. I will also do a pull test. To prep the hinges for...

    Build: EF 88" Edge 540T

I remember when they first came out for the 50cc motors and I was living in Colorado at the time. They made a big difference at the higher altitude and our flying field is close to 4000 ft. in elevation I think so I decided to try one again. If I don't like it, it was only $39.

    Build: EF 88" Edge 540T

Well, my batteries came today so all I need to do is change out the connectors for some APP's. I also got the canister mounts and a Vess 24B prop ordered. I know the Falcon 24x9 is the preferred prop for the DA 60 but a couple guys are using the Vess at my field and we're at a higher elevation...

    Build: EF 88" Edge 540T

I received my Extreme Flight 88" Edge 540T last week and I'm looking forward to getting it into the air. It arrived carefully packaged and in near perfect condition. There are a couple things that are minor flaws, but nothing major and I'm not going to bother EF with getting replacement parts...

    OMP 70" Fusion has ARRIVED!

I've been wanting to get one of the VVRC 20cc motors and I have some Hitec 5945's. This has my eye so I may have to consider getting one of these.

Batteries: Which Lithium Chemistry and How Are You Charging?

I had to get some heli parts and Helidirect was offering 10% off for 4th of July so I have 3 Pulse 2550 packs coming. I am already using this same pack for my receiver on my 700 heli.

Batteries: Which Lithium Chemistry and How Are You Charging?

I might have to try that stuff. I've always just used 1/2" foam and velcro to pad my packs from vibration.

Batteries: Which Lithium Chemistry and How Are You Charging?

Yeah I'm going to go Pulse or Glacier. Do you wrap them completely in 1/2" foam or just a piece between the fuse body and the battery with straps?

Batteries: Which Lithium Chemistry and How Are You Charging?

Yeah, the servos don't pull enough to need high C packs. I'm sure even the 10C multirotor packs can provide enough flow.
