    3DHS 70" Velox

I have the same setup as Gary, and on my 6s5300's I usually run about 6:50 and put back in anywhere from 3700-4200 depending on the day and my mood and how my flying style changes as a result.

    3DHS 70" Velox

On 6s, which the Rimfire is definitely a 6s motor, no, a 90 amp ESC won't cut it. It will make an easy 2200 watts, as will the Motrolfly, which is pushing 100 amps. I would go with at least a 110 amp model personally. These work well, and are inexpensive...

    3DHS 70" Velox

What kind of flying characteristics are you looking for? That motor is on the smaller side of normal these days. But normal has become rather overpowered too. That Eflite 470kv motor has a pretty high kv (470), which translates to it spinning a smaller prop. Most of us like an 18" or 19" prop on...

    3DHS 70" Velox

Were you able to get the wicked pop tops out of it that mine likes to do? I love that motor on the Velox... that plane is a beast with it. Got your old 87" SHP up in the air today too. Went to a different field than normal and flew up there with some friends. BryanB was there (standing next...

    3DHS 70" Velox

I did exactly as Gary said above this post. Plugged the stock holes with a dowel, drilled new ones. Did the same thing on one I just built for a friend, he used a Rimfire 120 in his. The X-mount there is even larger than the 4325 Motrolfly, I wound up plugging both the stock hole, and the other...

not me, daughter's birthday party in a few hours, followed by annual company picnic. Maybe if I'm lucky I can sneak out for a couple hours tomorrow afternoon. It's been about 2 weeks since I've flown last. Really missing my bigfoot and 78" Extra!

Gary, I have a 15x8 Aeronaut on my MXS that you saw at the FLI. I like it on there quite a bit. Have always ran the Xoar's in the past, but that Aeronaut seemed to have a bit less torque effect that the 16x8 Xoar that I had on there previously.

Motrolfly 4315-480 w/lightened backplate, and a ZTW Gecko 85 are about the same price as the combo, and work just as well... and are available now. Also it won't stutter when starting the prop from a dead stop like the Airboss does. That drives me nuts.

3DHS New Products and General Plane Info/Help for Fanatics

"pants on the ground" was one annoying song... but not nearly as bad as the "What does the fox say" song that I keep hearing right now. That one makes me want to find the radio playing it and smash the radio.

    78'' Extra

    78'' Extra

I definitely noticed the possiblility of doing the same thing, on full down elevator it wouldn't have taken much to push the servo arm over to the other side. put the 70mm secraft turnbuckles on, flipped the servos so the shaft is to the front, and it looks much better now. Glad I did this...

    78'' Extra

I'll have to check mine as well. I mounted the servos with output shaft to the rear, and had also ordered the longer 70mm turnbuckles, discovered that there was no way to use the turnbuckles with the servos mounted as they were, they were too long. Was too lazy to flip the servos around, and...

    65" Vyper Discussion Thread

I've used a weller sp40l and the 3/16" chisel tip to solder them before. That large tip retains a lot of heat and makes the soldering job quite easy.

    15cc EF 60" Edge 540T-EXP Gasser

Back to the glow ideas... while I would never want to go with glow again, I used to fly a bunch of Mojo 60's (from swanyshouse.com) with a Saito 100 on the nose. They were right around the 6-6.5lb mark, flew with a Xoar 15x6 perfectly, and ran about an 8-10oz tank for 10 minute flight times. It...

I have used Tetherite gear on several 6-8lb profile planes as well. Good stuff.

I dreaded them too, in the end it took me about 30-40 minutes. Had to elongate the holes on the front side strut on both sides, it was about 3/16" off. Then a quick bend with a couple of pairs of pliers and it was all done.
