Definitely lots of damage left from that storm. My boss at work lives about 1/4 mile north of one place the tornado went through. He said that there was nothing left there where it hit. It all stayed about 30 miles north and west of me thankfully.

    3DHS 70" Velox

Sounds like an awesome match - may have to build me a gas one with that motor. I too wish that they would make the Velox in bigger sizes! A 50cc one especially...

How is that old? Does 3dhs answer the phone? I can say from my personal experience that 4 out the 5 emails I have sent about various things went completely unanswered. Tried calling, called approximately 30 times at different times of the day over a period of two weeks and never got ahold of...

    Discussion Choosing an air frame----frustrations!

advantages of higher cell count setups are: lower amps, cooler motor, easier on batteries. No more weight if done right, or barely any more, couple ounces for the extra wires. You just run 12s 2600 or even 12s3000 instead of 6s5000.

    Discussion Choosing an air frame----frustrations!

70" Velox. Super easy to hover, it's a bit more agile than many of the other 7x" planes. Does amazing pop tops. Knife edge is crazy clean on it, only needs about a 1% mix, if anything. Depends a bit on CG. Spins like crazy. Waterfalls are awesome on it due to all the elevator authority. And...

    3DHS 70" Velox

Usually on the ZTW ESC's that I have owned I have to do that in order to even get them to arm the first time. It has become just a standard procedure for me now that I do with all non Castle ESC's. Nearly all the Hobbywing ones and Turnigy ones also program the endpoints this same way.

Our club is funny... back around 2006 when I started into 3d our club was dominated by older guys. Many flew somewhat aerobatically and did more than just fly circles, but nothing close to 3d. I was not well received at first when flying 3d. But I already had a decent relationship with many of...

    3DHS 70" Velox

No need for the 4330 on the Velox, I have the same motor you are proposing, with the 425 kv, and so does GYRO, and trust me, it's plenty! Lots of power, and lots of speed. Great match for the plane if you like high energy crankshafts and pop tops.

Ahh I miss the old Billy Hell RC site, he sold some great planes off that site. Billy Hell is Jim Graham of rcgroups' alter ego... Was started back when theprofilebrotherhood.com site first started up.

Similar picture from my first slick several years ago at a different local field. That Slick has long moved on, this one won't live much longer! ;) I was even wearing the same shirt it seems... might be time to retire that shirt :) All the gear from this Slick will go into the upcoming 56"...

That would be called a knife edge spin. Every plane is a bit different on how to get into them and what stick positions need to be used. This should be helpful on how to do them: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ad33dptnaSE there are lots of others on youtube as well.

They made some safety changes on it this year, it's not as good as in years past. The abu dhabi race is on youtube if anybody cares to watch there. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G7GO1M0Ibww

I may have a Q80-8M for sale soon if anyone is interested. Parting out an 89" Slick possibly, a local guy wants the airframe and wants to go gas on it. If he takes the frame I'll have q80 motor, castle hv-120 esc, and 5 hs-5955 servos to sell off...

That blue and white scheme is hot. Love it.

    3DHS 70" Velox

No need to be nervous, the plane is a complete pussycat to fly, at least on low rates. On high rates it can be much more exciting! A noseheavy plane is easier to fly and land than a tail heavy plane, so it's always best to maiden more noseheavy than tailheavy.

    3DHS 70" Velox

Just fly it. I gave up on actually measuring the CG point a long time ago on 3dhs planes. I build them, stick the battery about mid tray and go fly. Adjust battery as needed and fly more. On mine I think my pack is about 1.5 inches forward of the wing tube. I run a 4325 also, xoar prop, plastic...

The hacker a30 and lightened mount version of the Motrolfly 3615 are a direct match. The aluminum mount Motrolfly is a larger bolt pattern. I'm buying the 56" one as soon as it comes out. I've got a very well used 51" Slick currently, so it will just get flown very very recklessly until it...

    78'' Extra

That's what I fly. Easy to do. I don't have my radio in front of me, but you need to go into the model selection menu area, under the sub menu wing type. In there is the dual mate area. Under Elev it currently says IHN for inhibit, you need to change that to an open channel on your RX...
