    3DHS 70" Velox

Did you cut the big area out of the bottom as shown in the manual? Mine didn't fit either, which I find frustrating. The older 68" Velox's fit perfect. The new 70 is a bit too small in the fiberglass mold. I wish they would make the mold bigger and get the cowls to fitting right. Anyways cut...

same weight? Jeez, you must have either had one heavy slick or one light 78!! My 78's have both been in the 12.5-13+ lb range. One was gas and the current one is electric. My electric Slick was 9.5 lb, the gas one was 10.5 if memory serves. But the 78 is lighter feeling on the wing than the...

    Kennett Missouri 3D Bash

I'd take a shirt - not black please!! The summers here are too darn hot to wear black shirts. The few that I have only get worn in the spring/fall months.

    3dhs 92" edge 540 !!!

Receiver packs are usually a much lower discharge rate, and theoretically at least, are less damaged when you leave them charged for long periods of time. High discharge lipos don't like to be left at full charge for days/weeks and will develop bad cells faster. Or so it has been explained to me...

    3dhs 92" edge 540 !!!

I use dual 1800's. I get 4 flights easily, could probably get 5, but 4 is my usual limit.

    Discussion Freestyle Routine Music

Brandon Chitty did a really cool one at the Fort Smith FLI last year. He integrated Siri into the routine as a mechanism for the music changes. Hard to hear in parts of the video for it, but it was cool. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pv49-GT7kvI As for me, a song I've always liked is Run DMC...

    Discussion Choosing an air frame----frustrations!

I'll throw another opinion out there... I've flown 5-6 different PA planes from the small Addiction and the bigger one to the 58" Extra, AMR bipe, and the Bandit. I really didn't care for any of them. I would have 5 years ago. Then I flew profile planes that are incredibly light wing loaded. PA...

    3DHS 70" Velox

Just like you said... fill existing holes with a dowel. Then when you drill the new hole, which just barely overlaps if memory serves you have wood to drill through. GYRO posted pictures of his a few pages back, post number 268 and 270. You can see the filled hole, and new one...

    3DHS 70" Velox

I had the 4330-435 on the 71" Slick, and the 4325-425 on a 70" Velox. The Velox being lighter, smaller, more slippery in the air was faster than the Slick. And had just as much pullout from a hover. I really can't imagine needing more power than the 4325-425 personally...

    3dhs 92" edge 540 !!!

I would bet that the hinge was epoxied in with a twist... bet you'll have to cut all of them, and melt/drill out the hinges and re-hinge to fix it. Or just fly it until that hinge breaks and hope the rest hold it on :)

    The 3DRCForums -Discuss Anything Thread-

what size planes do you want to fly at night? I've seen 100cc gassers fly under 2 light towers. Under a single tower I used to fly 40 sized glow profile planes all the time under a single tower. I would happily fly a 60" electric under a single tower, though it would be all very close in stuff...

    3DHS 70" Velox

I'd say a 100 amp is treading very very close to the edge. That motor can pull around 2200-2400 watts depending on how good your batteries are and exactly what prop you run. So you are talking 100 - 110 amps roughly. I prefer at least a 110 amp esc, if not a 120. I've run a Castle HV110 and...

    3DHS 70" Velox

good to know on the winding charge! I know that sometimes I got charged, and sometimes not. Didn't really know why though. I know there are at least 4 of us running the 4325-425's now, and all have loved them.

    3DHS 70" Velox

If it were me I would go for the 4325-425 then. It is a custom wound kv, and will cost a bit more though. If you wanted to avoid that the 450 would probably be just fine. Some like a 19" prop on this plane, and with the 380 wind you will be turning a 19x10. For me I always felt that the plane...

    3DHS 70" Velox

I think possibly a better question is what style your flying is? Do you like low and slow close in 3d with lots of harriers, hovers, rollers and such? Or do you like high speed tumbles, pop tops, fast knife edge passes more? The higher kv's (425-450) suit themselves more to the second, faster...
