Oh yes :) It is definitely more solid than when it left the factory :) The doublers are basswood and epoxied in place with micro-ballons.

I finished the structural part of the reconstruction on the Extra :) Just a little sanding and cover it back up tonight. New Falcon 28x9 will be here today, so hoping to get it all back together and possibly fired up Thursday night :) :) Less than a week to go from snapped in half to flying again :)

Thank you. Should be covering tomorrow night. Putting the last piece of balsa sheeting on now and just waiting for the glue to dry :-)

Plane Stand Pro - fuselage stand.

@Terryscustom, what is the distance between the uprights? Will it handle my 42% Edge with the gear on? I am not sure of the width off the top of my head. I do know it is a lot wider than my 35% Extra 330SC.

The 'What did you do in your workshop tonight?' thread

It was a very productive night in the shop tonight. I received the "new" cylinders for the 106 making it a CS :) Took the cylinders and pistons off the classic 106, put them on the TOC crankcase, because it is the older of the two, and put the cylinders from Gerhard on the newer 106 crankcase...

The 'What did you do in your workshop tonight?' thread

Some of the earlier 3W engines, for whatever reason, would break the c-clips that hold the piston pins in place. If you were lucky, the piece would just go out the exhaust, but most of the time it would tear up the cylinder because the metal they are made of is much harder than the cylinders and...

The parts for the engine have been ordered! I actually fly this plane for IMAC and it draws some pretty nice lines once you get it setup correctly :) Hopefully back in the air by next weekend.

Plane Stand Pro - fuselage stand.

The notorious c-clip breakage strikes again! It took out both pistons and cylinders, but luckily left the bottom end in good shape. AI has some CS cylinders for a very reasonable price so I am picking them up. Should be nice and stout when it does run again :)

Plane Stand Pro - fuselage stand.

I will be getting one of these, but due to an engine failure last night, I will be sending my money to Aircraft International for parts :(

The only thing I am a little leery of is getting the incidence set correctly. The rest is a piece of cake.

The 'What did you do in your workshop tonight?' thread

Unfortunately I was tearing down a 106 TOC that died on an upline. We thought it had went lean, but that was not the issue! The notorious c-clip breaking reared its ugly head and took out both pistons and cylinders along with a plane!

The I'm going out flying thread 2016

I went flying yesterday...........Didn't turn out so good :( Had the notorious c-clip failure happen to the 106 TOC on the Extra and take out both cylinders and pistons! Also, took out the plane. The plane is repairable and I do have a spare 106 sitting in the garage, but how many lives can an...
