The I'm going out flying thread 2016

If you lived in my state Illinois, you would have until Saturday night to do that. We are getting kicked out of the Megamillions and the Powerball after that because the idiot politicians in this screwed up state haven't passed a budget in years.:msn_slap:

    GSN GIVE-A-WAY Hangar 9 35% Extra 300X Assembly

I've never used Stits, so anything I say will be pure guess work, but most paints don't like wax for at least a month. But, you could use a polishing glaze of some kind, kind of like a very fine rubbing compound.

The 'What did you do in your workshop tonight?' thread

I'm going the Terryscustom method and splitting the cowl on my Hangar 9 Extra. I baffled a side mounted GP 61 in my Carf Extra with a one piece cowl, it was kind of a pain. Doable, but harder than it needed to be. As a matter of fact I just ordered the foam to do my Extra this morning.

    Awesome Video Thread

There you go Rob, can you say Build Thread! I wish I could talk my flying buddy Tony into financing a project for one of these EMHW 120cc sized Challengers. He's got the money and want's a 120cc biplane, and I've got the time. ;)

    GSN GIVE-A-WAY Hangar 9 35% Extra 300X Assembly

I think we have another case of big company syndrome and one hand at Horizon isn't sure what the other one is doing. Someone on another forum talked to Ali yesterday and he said it's just backordered and will be back in about 6 weeks. Their website has been changed to backordered as well...

    GSN GIVE-A-WAY Hangar 9 35% Extra 300X Assembly

Unfortunately the dot I wanted to use was too big in diameter on the outside to fit between the wing and hatch in that spot.

    GSN GIVE-A-WAY Hangar 9 35% Extra 300X Assembly

Tonight I set the Extra aside to check over my scratch build after it's maiden Sunday, but here are a few pictures of some of the work I did to it over the weekend. Hangar 9 mounted the tank behind the wingtube, but with my tank the outlets point directly into the tube, so I decided to move it...

Scale 50cc Scratch Build From My Own Design Revisited

Tonight I put Miss Moana back in the workshop and did a little tinkering. I added some straws to make it easier to tune and checked everything over. Tomorrow night I'm planning to check the elevators and make sure they travel evenly. I don't think I had then exactly even.

I think the battery actually reads 72%, it's just hard to read in the pic.

    GSN GIVE-A-WAY Hangar 9 35% Extra 300X Assembly

I bought some .058 carbon fiber rod the other day, it fits the Robart hinges great. I think that's what I'll use for my rudder hinge pin rod.

    GSN GIVE-A-WAY Hangar 9 35% Extra 300X Assembly

I'm getting a little farther on mine, but I need to spend a few nights this week doing a few tweeks on my scratch build. Our field is about 2 1/2 hours from Evansville. Interstate 64 to 255. Our field is about a mile off 255. If we do that sometime I could probably get @pawnshopmike to come...

You need quality Viton with a Durometer rating of 60A which is soft and pliable. The stuff PSP sells is correct for our application. I just got some from them last week and it's nice and flexible. McMaster Carr also sells it.

It seems that is just the way thing go now days. Sometimes the larger operations just don't seem to care.

The 'What did you do in your workshop tonight?' thread

We found out the hard way last year that you have to watch what your getting for "Teflon" header couplers too. My flying buddy Tony did a new Carf Extra 330SC with a DA120 last spring. He ordered couplers and clamps from Chief, like he had done several times before but they were out of stock. He...
