Pilot 40% 330 Recover and Build

QUOTE="49dimes, post: 216897, member: 1173"]Is that paint lacquer base? I bet it is automotive quality from a spray can. Probably pPg he uses to make the cans up so I can see the cost of the spray paint. I am not sure Kelly if it is lacquer base. I can tell you that it is base coat clear coat...

I am not sure about the coverage rate, but it does seem like it takes a lot to cover. The cans are only 12 oz cans so there really isn't much in them at all. This is one of the downsides to this paint. It is quite expensive for the amount that you get. However, I will say that it is some of the...

Not a real happy camper tonight. I worked feverishly to get the cowl halves prepped and masked off and ready for paint. Unfortunately I do not have a paint booth so all my painting is done out doors. I was up against the clock and time was running out before darkness fell. Not to mention the...

So I thought about my little..ugh..beginner mistake, two hole choke rod dilemma for a minute. And much like @pawnshopmike suggested, I came up with a variation of his superb idea. Rather than having a much larger hole than I would like, I chose to still conjoin the two holes. But first let me...

I wouldn't necessarily say green with envy... maybe a little "An-ti-cipation… An-ti-cipation is making me wait. It's making me waaaait...ing. A little strange you should make the comment you did. I was actually just thinking tonight, "Oh how much I am so ready to have this thing done!" It's a...

Thanks my friend. I can't say professional as you can probably see my "oops" on the bottom cowl half. Don't know how I could make such a novice mistake. But missed the alignment for the choke pull rod. Ugh!!! But I guess the rest of it looks good so...

Dang it! That sucks most profusely my friend. But it truly is how you look at it. From your description of events, it could have ended most unsatisfyingly bad. I'm pretty sure however that planting balsa in the same field that beans is growing is certainly not allowable. Not supposed to mix and...

We now have a primed cowl gents. Got my Baby Yak put away and went to prepping the 330 cowl for the final steps. I re-wet-sanded the entire cowl, (top and bottom) with 600. After a thorough warm water rinse and scrubbing inside the cowl, I dried it off. Inside and out. Then the soaking wet...

You are so correct. As I made note regarding basically what you experienced with your dub. If a normally reliable and dependable engine begins having problems, there is something amiss. And most generally it will not fix itself. It will only get worse. Yes, a bit spendy. But oh so worth every penny.

Speaking of weather, it's been a little warm here too. 103 last Thursday and around 100 since. Not normal for this time of year. Ah, but today a nice little break. Headed for the field at 73 with 0 gusting to 4 mph winds. Not so hot now as I head in to focus on priming the 330 cowl. The SD Baby...
