I haven't ordered the decals yet, still trying to figure out what I want. I want it to look nice but not gaudy[sp]. I don't see the radial on Dave's website either, but he posted a picture of it and it looked good, may just use the one from B&E since theirs is already done to size. I was going...

I worked on my balance today and I think to get it right without adding any weight I may add 1/2 in. of spacers to the standoffs. I really think it will need that to make it come in right. Only thing I hate, I will have to drill new holes in the cowl. But I covered one hole with some ultra cote...

Here are the latest pictures. All that is left to do is move the batteries around for balance and add the decals. Also have some of the Sullivan alum. hub wheels coming.

If you had $1000.00 to spend on a charger and power supply, what would you buy?

I would buy a DLE-61 and 10 gallons of premix and fly forever, flight after flight!--Smitty

Tom,the only reason I was going to go with Dennis on the radial decal was it is of the Russian made engine that is in the real plane. I am going to open the cowl like you have it done and dam the air in front like you did. The plane is really looking good. ---Smitty

Ok here is some of the latest pictures I took today. This plane is really coming along. Do need to ask for some info on the hole I cut for cooling of the cyl. head. I really want to make sure it is right because I plan on putting a radial decal on the balsa that you see on the front. I am going...

That's what I did Tom, I used some material to make spacers that would get me the 6 3/4 from the firewall to prop hub, then put the cowl in place using masking tape in the front to center the propshaft. I put 4 pieces of tape at 90 degrees and wrapped them around the propshaft to get the cowl...

The Sukhoi is coming right along. I have mounted the fuel tank, Mixed up some thinned down Epoxy and painted the firewall outside and inside. I will mount the engine today and figure out what to do about a throttle servo placement. Ordered a Pitts style muffler from ValleyView they had free...

Yeah that is what I did, just drilled out the motor mounts, like you sais much easier to get materials. Mounted the cowl, that is quite the job foe one man, trying to get it centered each way.

Hey Tom I see you are on the forum right now. I have a question, I needed different length of standoffs than what came with the DLE, which were 3 inches. So I ordered the set from SWB that have a couple of different size spacers, only problem is the are drilled and come with 1/4-20 bolts now the...

Have all servos in the flying surfaces. Got the pull-pull cables done today, I was surprised at how good they turned out, I usually don't do a real nice job on those but this time I think I did good. Have all the switches mounted. Temporarily mounted the engine with some makeshift spacers to...

Are you going to register with the FAA? Cast Your Vote!

I don't think any AMA member should use the FAA website to signup. First off I don't trust them with my credit card number. Second if everyone downloaded a application and used the mail with a 5 dollar money order just imagine the amount of paper work those people would have to do and they would...

Thanks for the advice Tom, you are not to late and I did read the post sweetpea put up about cranking the engine. I was a little surprised to find out that the DLE-61 weights almost 1 pound more than the DA-50, I didn't think there would be that much difference.---Smitty

Ok, to clear up a bunch of misinformation that I have been asking about. If you go to DLE's website and look up the DLE-61 look at the drawings. It shows a measurement from the back of the engine mount to the prop hub to be 6.77". Well that is BS. It is more like 4.00" which make a lot more...

Terry, I need some info on your Su-26m. You put a DLE-61 in yours also, what size standoffs did you use. I am at the point of trying to mount the engine, just don't know how far from the firewall did you put the prop. That info would help me a lot.---Smitty

The DLE-61 came in today as did all the batteries, switches, fuel dot, extensions for the servos and props. The props are from Wrong Way RC, they are laminated wood props that PAU had made. Started putting the servos in the wings. Will mount the servos in the stabs today. Does anyone know if the...
