    Toledo Expo 2014

Desert Aircraft said they would be making phone calls to start shipping DA-35s to customers this coming week. They had the finished ignition module on display. Between them and Falcon, I got some new acquisitions for the prop box. They had new props specific for the DA-70. Falcon 25x8 wide...

Spent lots of time at AJ aircraft. He says they are in the build. Might be available by the end of May. Won't be ready by Nall. I will post more about them later in the AJ thread.

    Toledo Expo 2014

Had a good time at the Toledo show today. Had lunch with Dr. Gonzo and dth7. I must admit that I flat out ran out of time as they basically kicked us out. I missed a few excellent vendors like GP Engines, Buddy RC (Daren made it there though), and Innov8tive Designs. I got a few photos of...

That is why for the test rig we will use a BEC so that we don't get the voltage sag and get consistent results.

The EXTRA 300 EXT Build Thread

I have F150 with a 6.5 foot bed. The perfect size is a small 50cc that fits without taking anything off. My 78 extra is the biggest thing I can currently pull that truck off with, but I think the redwing slick I back ordered will fit that bill. I can get my EF 88 edge with just one stab off...

    Trailers, Toy Haulers, Etc!

Patrick is doing a lot of the leg work, but the trailer is starting to look like a RC hauler. Also picked up the tool chest yesterday. http://m.lowes.com/product?langId=-1&storeId=10702&catalogId=10051&productId=3439326&store=1907&view=detail&nValue=4294607608 Not using the topper except...

You are good. LiFE packs go to 6.6V almost immediately. That is what is good about them as they run 6V servos at 6.6V. Their discharge curve is 6.6V until they are almost depleted. Even then they are more stable fully discharged than Lipos. There is a battery checker on the market that has...

    78'' Extra

Daren and I got some flying today in on our 78s. I could measurably see how much faster Daren's piped setup was. I am sure I win in a tractor pull with my VVRC 40 and Mej 21x8 prop, but if you want some high energy, that DLE-35RA with ES pipe combo is the one to beat. I am going to have to...

    74" Edge 540

I am breaking it in correctly with IMAC type stuff, so no crazy stunts yet. It sure is fast though.

    74" Edge 540

Got 2 flights today in on my replacement 74. VVRC 40 spinning a Vess 20B, 7200 RPM. It balanced perfectly with the batteries where the pull pull servo would have gone. Rudder servo in the second elevator bay. Plane came in at 10 lbs, 12 ounces, full of fuel (16oz). Probably the lightest...

    Servo bench testing

Yes, 7955s draw about 3 amps. Realize that is at full stall current. You would only see that spike for a few millaseconds in flight. The servos get hot doing this testing. This is where brushless servos shine.

That and ditching the wheel pants. In my 35% H9 extra I lost almost a pound going to the CF landing gear. Also a CF wing tube if you can find a compatible one. If you give me the OD and length I can go through my fleet and see if I have one that is correct so you source one.

The EXTRA 300 EXT Build Thread

That spinner is a EF one, carbon is not going to save you much of anything on that front. A carbon or wood prop will be slightly less weight. CF gear will be the biggest weight trick, but you did lighten the one you have. Wheels is another place you can save some weight, Ditch the wheel...
