    3DHS 70" Velox

Yep, the RCGF 26cc BM. Patrick had already redone the hinges. He used Acraglas, and the all 4 hinges failed at the joint. We are going to drill them out and go up to the next size robarts. I must be pretty hard on my rudder with this plane. With fuel it came in at 9lbs 9 ounces today on my...

    3DHS 70" Velox

Flew the new falcon 18x7. RPM was only 7700 on the ground. Flew really nice. Blew the rudder hinges off. Landed without the rudder. Only damage is to replace the hinges and one ball link. I think this combo is pretty nice though. Got three spins on the one pop top I did.

    Discussion Gas vs. Electric

My RCGF 26cc Velox is just a little over 9 pounds. My new VVRC 40 74 Edge was 10 pounds on Patrick's home scale, but I am waiting to use my fish scale as that is what I have been using to get comparable weights. One cool thing about electrics is that you can change the battery and go from...

    Discussion Gas vs. Electric

I have gone both ways in 30cc. 2 seasons ago all I had were 30cc electrics, mainly 8s setups. I invested in the generator, power supplies, chargers, etc. As the gas engine options improved, I started to try gasser setups for the longer flights times. At this point all I have up and running...

    60" Laser-EXP

I built my second one in my dad's RV driving to the FLI. I replaced the hinges with radio south hinges. The elevator cut out might need to be enlarged. Mock the tail up first. Use Hinson's doubled sided tape trick for the cowl spacing.

    The 3DRCForums -Discuss Anything Thread-

Noll brought me landing gear and a DA-60 mount to WRAM for me. Looks like Moose is doing up some nice videos for them. Ben seems to be doing R and D full time. Noll worked with me on my 92 wing issue. It does look like a positive trend for them. I find email is the way to work with them. With...

    35CC 3D Plane

Comparing this setup to 4325-425, you should be able to spin a 19x8 faster than that can spin the Xoar 18x10 PJN. I thought that was stupid power. If that aft battery tray is all that is needed to make this work, then this should be a very fun airplane and project. Other thing to consider is...

    Discussion Choosing an air frame----frustrations!

We have had a lot of failures with the 0255s. They are very powerful, just not as bullet proof as other servos. RJX does make good stuff.

    Discussion Choosing an air frame----frustrations!

Ahh, that makes sense. There is a need in that size. I seem now to remember the thread I saw this on being a commentary on 5065s and savox 0255s.

Talked to Hoffman. I think we are going to try our usual spot off the pavement.

The EXTRA 300 EXT Build Thread

I have the Torque only because I got a smoking deal on it. Plus it is a bolt on application, even though standoffs are not a huge deal. Only bad experience I ever had with Motrolfly, Ken warned me about. He recalled some motors due to a glue issue and before I got around to removing the motor...

We MIGHT get a flying day in on Saturday off the frozen lake. The forecast changes almost every hour for that day.

The EXTRA 300 EXT Build Thread

There is a tip from Christ Hinson to use double sided mounting tape between the back plate of the spinner and the cowl to get the perfect gap on electrics where the cowl bolts set the gap. You want a little gap as too tight and you will scrap paint off in hard maneuvers as things will flex...

    35CC 3D Plane

Adding up the weight of the components from Tower I get a difference of 69 grams which is 2.43 ounces. I also don't believe that the DLE-30 ignition module is significantly lighter than the DLE-35 module. A test is better than a thousand opinions.

    Discussion Choosing an air frame----frustrations!

I have the BKs in my laser as well. I tried the Spektrum 5060s, but they were a epic fail with jitters. I did not try the velcro trick with them as they were just plain so bad. I have a youtube video on them. You have to hog out the servo bays for the bigger heli servos and you end up adding...

Extreme Flight 88" Edge -- now with EXP sized horizontal stabs

I just put bowman rings in the PTE for this season. I need to put it back together. It is the only plane that I have to dial back the normal high rates other than the 60" laser. I have some video of mine from last season, but they are not nearly as good as the ones Jase has.

    Which scheme? Motrolfly or torque?

The EXTRA 300 EXT Build Thread

If you are doing a RX pack over a BEC, then I would just use LiFE batteries. They put out a steady 6.6V and have found to be safe with 6V servos. Also you can charge them in the plane. Once you add a regulator, you might as well use a BEC off the flight packs or do a BEC off a separate...
