    Servo bench testing

Cool, another data point. I like how you did you amp meter. When I used the H9 servo meter, the torque fell off due to a lot of line loss inside the thing. Next time I will hook a regular amp meter inline with one of my powersafes as they are already setup on the bigger connectors.

I am a iOS user. Work has a iPad, spouse has a Macbook pro and she has learned how to use the iphone, so we are committed to the easy of the apple system. The stuff just works. Droid seems like the Taranis/FRsky system to me. More powerful for those whom like to dink with programming their...

Facial hair is usually banned in my profession beyond mustaches. Something to do with the oxygen masks fitting well. It would take me a year to grow any anyways.

I back fed that voltage and poof it was toast, luckily we opened it up, and fixing it just required a small solder joint be repaired. The school of hard knocks.

I will check them out on Friday. I could use some better 30cc bags.

Does the programmer still work with the 85? I fried my programmer hooking up a battery and the ESC at the same time as the BEC and the battery had different voltages. Battery is only hooked up for the HV setup. 85 would be just the ESC.

Usually the BEC powers up the programmer. What you need is power to the programmer so it can talk to the Gecko. The ESC goes into the main port and the battery or BEC goes into the other port labelled battery which powers up the programmer. Same thing on castle HV stuff.

I think we jumped threads on the wing bags. I like the Carden better than the wing totes, but that is just personal preference. Also I have gotten great service from them. They have ended up making me custom bags twice now because they were OTS on the color I ordered.

The only HV ESC I know of with a BEC is the Scorpion Commander. There is a battery port on the programmer for this very purpose. You could also hook that castle ESC that has a BEC up this port just to get power to the system. If this is your first foray into HV ESCs, that is a very easy thing...

The HV is a opto, so there is no internal BEC. Did you look at the instructions for programming it? You might have to hook a battery up to the programmer to get it to work. Otherwise get a 150A from here. http://www.buddyrc.com/ztw-gecko-150a-high-voltage-aircraft-esc.html

Most people are shocked at the size of the fuse on the Laser. Very easy to work in.

Yes, he is running the Torque. He is sponsored by EF, so he runs their equipment. I got a wicked good deal on my motor. I run a Gecko instead of the Airboss as I run a HV servo setup. If you get the 7245s I would go with the Gecko 85A.

For all my big planes I get these. http://www.carden-aircraft.com/wingbags/index-wingbags.htm Get them a few inches bigger if you use the cool guy wing bolts as the stud sticks out. Nicest wing bags I have ever seen other than Revoc custom ones.

Ours have the Torque motors. Apparently the Motrolfly 4315-480 is even more. This is my benchmark for stupid power.

Using a BEC on the bench for extended times can be a issue as well as they are designed to get cooling air. I have a couple of cheap AA deals I have from my glow days I use for bench setup or a LiFE pack. I am having all sort of trevails with my 550 heli with some expensive BECs, and to solve...

Here are some. cwojcik has the RJX version of this servo. We have both toned down our BECs as there is only so much stupid fast you need. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o3WqLdl0N3g https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2yeHpiby1dU

The point of mine is more to have a shop on wheels. All the experimenting I do with setups leads to a lot of needed tools. I also want a charging station, place for my prop box (26" tool box). I also have to provisions for securing the lady's motorcycle. Lots of design challenges in a 7x12.

I do reduce power on the cut off and set it to 3.0V (under load) so that I know when it done as the reduced power should be enough to hobble home. It will probably hit that limit doing some crazy trick like extended crankshafts, so I know the battery is getting low under load. I set up voltage...
