    Kennett Missouri 3D Bash

My spouse's parents lives right next to Ozark one. They have it down to a science of how to beat the crowds. Best way into the Sikeston one is to fly into the airport. They bring you in through the kitchen after picking you up. Best thing to do with flight students in the area.

    Kennett Missouri 3D Bash

This one is going to be tough to make. It is pretty far for dad to drive from where he lives with the RV and it is packed in between a few other events I am trying to make and do. If I go it would be the ship and build thing I did for FSM. Too far to drive from NH. I am looking at doing the...

    New Here? Introduce yourself!

For some reason there are not a lot of PA planes up here in the area. One guy just loves his Addiction X to death. It flies very slow when he wants it to. They run a great black friday sale every year.

Cost comparison, budget 60cc versus top shelf 30cc

Hence the question. You have enough money to do a quality 30cc or a budget 50cc, which to pick. I have tried both and I am in the process of revisiting the budget 50cc to some extent. No doubt a top shelf 60cc is better than either of these choices, but then you are knocking on the door of the...

    84" Bigfoot

I ran mine out of gas at the end of last season and had a less than desirable landing in the Strawberry patch. Luckily it is build pretty tough and bounced back. The only thing negative I can say about it is it's tendency to tip stall. Reducing it's weight and running spoilerons has helped.

    Servo bench testing

Those are the exact ones I was talking about. I have 1 I have had for 3 years in my Sea Fury, but since I fly that like once a season I don't count it as a true test.

    Servo bench testing

Parts for our more robust system are coming from China, despite what Amazon said. Be a few weeks till that gets here. Solar 772s showed up. I also want to test the Tactic and this one $18 servo from HK.

    74" Edge 540

Most of the 3DHS 30cc kits come with mini servo boxes. I have managed to hog them out in the past to get them to work. Jtec sells a wooden servo box if you need one.

    3DHS 70" Velox

My Velox is setup on a Wolverine switch and 2x 2s 1000 lipos. I currently run a RCGF 26cc BM on mine. My EF 70 Extra ran a Castle BEC pro with no issues. I think it just important to get 2 sources of power into the RX for bigger 3D planes and the BEC pro does that. My old 89 slick electric...

Cost comparison, budget 60cc versus top shelf 30cc

Depends on the 60cc airframe. 11.5 lbs on 1000 - 1100 squares for a 3DHS gasser 15-17 lbs on 1426 squares on the Aerobeez 21 lbs on 1650 squares on my buddies EF 91 extra with DA-60/RE2. 30lbs on 1900 squares on my EF 104 extra. I know my big plane floatier than my 30cc stuff. The wing...

Cost comparison, budget 60cc versus top shelf 30cc

We are going to acquire one of the Tactic servos soon for testing. There are a lot of $50 servos like the XQ and Power HD servos and a few from HK that have the specs for the budget 60cc. There is also always used quality servos at this price point. I forgot to mention that my first 50cc...

Cost comparison, budget 60cc versus top shelf 30cc

Changed. You can also get the new DLE-61 for around $400 at Tower, the GP-61 for $450, and the old reliable DLE-55 for $325. Used DA-50s are a excellent choice as well. For me personally I have a very nice 30cc in a EF 78 Extra which is setup like my 30cc example, although the shipping is...

Cost comparison, budget 60cc versus top shelf 30cc

I am currently in the gathering components stage for my spring fleet additions. Over on GiantScaleNews in the DA-70 thread someone aptly pointed out that the cost of that engine exceeds a lot of quality 100cc engine choices. The brought me back around to some cost comparisons I have done in the...

    74" Edge 540

Stay with a standard size servo. I use Hitec 5665s normally. I have tried a Solar servo on the throttle, but I seem to remember having to replace it. I know there is a decent Savox choice that is cheaper that Gyro uses. I think this one...

If you install the servos spline forward you won't have the cam over I had. The manual clearly shows the splines aft. $500 lesson for me.

    RC on the cheap

Heads Up RC West Michigan Parkflyers has the DSM44 servos I use in foamies I do get select stuff from HK and Hobbypartz. Just today I was assembling a rudder servo tray I got from HK that is 30% or less the cost than from a US vendor. CNC aluminum is CNC aluminum. That savings pays for the...

    Servo bench testing

I forgot to put that in there. Unregulated lipo. By the end of the testing it was sagging to 7.9V under load. We were also looking at amps on some of them. I am going to do a more formal test with video later once I get the setup better. Don't have a mechanism for speed testing. I tend to...

    Servo bench testing

Today ghoffman came over and we setup his servo testing rig and tested a few servos. I wanted to test this heli servo I got that turned out to be a total bust. I am going to modify it and do video and some more formal testing but here is what we got today. Hitec 7955 336 oz/in Hitec 7950...

    RC on the cheap

There are a few things I will buy from HK. 1) Their DSM2 4 channel RXs for foamies. They are the lightest I have found. 2) I agree on their arms. They are SWB clones, CNC alloy arms. Slightly different color annodizing. 3) I just got some teflon couplers and clamps because they were the...

I am working on the OS issue with a new ignition module. Apparently the VVRC just needs a bit of time on her to hand flip. I prefer the starter at this point. I hope horizon has it right with that new EFI motor.
