This really gives the hobby a bad name and some clubs are alot like this

Our safety officer just resigned over helicopters. Evidently they totally freak him out and he went off on one of the heli guys about how dangerous they are before he even got out of his car the other day. The incident did get us two new 15' x 15' heli pads on the crosswind runway. I'd rather...

This really gives the hobby a bad name and some clubs are alot like this

I didn't know you flew at my field. At least it sounds just like what happens there. There's one guy that's really a hazard. He crashes more planes in a month than I've crash since I stared flying long ago. He has flown right over my head when I was bent over starting my airplane. He is going to...

    Helicopter Training

I've recently gotten into heli's after a 29 year absence and I was looking for some good training ideas when I came across a training routine for the simulator from ArchmageAU on Helifreak. I read through it and thought I'd give it a try. Boy, a guy has to really like his hobby to put himself...

First Heli Flight In 29 Years

I put some more stick time in on my 550 Saturday. It was a little windy for the first two flights, so I just hovered tail in to get used to the effects of the wind. Maintaining my location was relatively easy, but it took a bit to get a handle on the altitude changes. I guess with the FBL...

Topics and a build thread for the new guys

Brian, He has learned a valuable lesson since then, don't ask me to show him how to do a Pop Top unless I'm flying one of my airplanes. It took one more event to really set that in stone though. He was flying another one of his airplanes one day and he just couldn't do a good Pop...

Just imagine what that would cost in glow, ouch.

    Field equipment: Refueling bottle setup

I use a "Ratio Right" measuring cup and mix fuel in a standard jug and use that to keep my flight jug full. That way I can mix small amounts since it takes me awhile to use it, and gas just doesn't stay fresh very long these days. Plus that way I can leave the jug in the back of my truck and go...

Safety Third Lithium battery care tips thread

I did watch a YouTube video a while back where a guy was testing storage and charge setups. It was pretty interesting to watch. If I can find it again I'll post it. He was shorting some and waaaay over charging some. It was interesting to see the different ways the batteries vented. The scariest...

    Field equipment: Refueling bottle setup

I wish I needed a backup 5 gallon jug. With only squeezing in 4 flights a week tops I don't need that much fuel. And that makes me very sad.:upset:

Safety Third Lithium battery care tips thread

Good battery storage Ideas would be nice too. This is my charger setup I just built a few weeks ago. I still need to add a vent fan for hot weather, but this is what I'm using right now. Powerlab 8 charger 2 computer server power supplies for 24VDC/47A/1128w Pelican 1600 case...
