    Field equipment: Refueling bottle setup

I haven't used a Six Shooter in years. Are they any easier to crank than they used to be?

That one was done with a drill press and a wire wheel like this, but a little finer. 18432=12508-34961.jpg

It Can Happen...and It can Happen FAST

Some people are just battery problem magnets. Back in the eighties when I started flying there were two guys at the field that were Nazis about cycling nicads. They both preached how you just had to cycle your batteries constantly. They had more battery problems between the two of them than any...

It Can Happen...and It can Happen FAST

I've stayed away from LiPo's other than some little ones for my Crack Pitts, but just a few months ago I bought a Trex 550 helicopter that uses 6S 5300 mah batteries. My first call was to a friend that Is sharp as hell and flys a lot of electrics. My question was what do I need to charge those...

IMAC JTEC/ Radiowave 3.1m competition series

Actually it's Doug,:fat: but I get called Tony quite a bit at the field since the guy I go flying with every Sunday morning is named Tony. We've been flying together since 1985, other than about a decades break for his kids to grow up and me to get over a serious case of club burnout...

    Wood is Good....

Tony, was that Ultracote that was painted over? If so, how did it hold up? I did that on a pattern airplane many years ago, but sold it before I could see how well it held up.

I love the scheme, very clean and classic. Kind of reminds me of one I painted for a friend back in the early 90's. The first gasser I ever flew. I can't wait to see the finished product. 16688=11631-Extra230Small.jpg 16688=11632-Extra230Small2.jpg

The I'm going out flying thread 2016

I went flying twice this past weekend. I flew a heli for the first time in 29 years Saturday. Flew my Pilot 87" Edge Sunday. I don't think the temp got passed the mid 70's either day.:joyous: Sunday on my way I passed a time temp sign that said 59 and 8:45. Sure beat the triple digits we had...

Why do you love this hobby?

I always had an interest in aviation. My dad used to bring stick and tissue models home for my brother and I to build all the time. When I was in high school a friends dad was in the local RC club and we used to drive out and watch all the time. My love of cars out weighed the airplanes then and...

    Field equipment: Refueling bottle setup

I use the Secraft one with a Hangar 9 pump. I made an aluminum bracket to attach the pump. The bracket that is on the jug in the picture was one from an old jug and too big so I replaced it with one like shown in the last photo. 16167=10893-jug1.jpg 16167=10894-jug2.jpg...

First Heli Flight In 29 Years

There are three heli guys at our field that I trust. Before I bought one I talked to each of them separately and 550 sized was pretty much the consensus. I had already been looking and was thinking about a new 450 until I looked at one at the field and decided I just wanted something bigger. So...

My 550 has a longer than stock rotor blade and is about 49" in rotor span. So it's plenty big enough to scare the crap out of me! I put in an absolutely ludicrous amount of sim time in to get ready for flying it. 29 years ago I had a Schluter Mini Boy with an OS .45, mechanical collective...

First Heli Flight In 29 Years

I put my first stick time in on a RC heli today in 29 years. I bought a T-Rex 550e V1 a while back and finally had it off the ground today. I had a friend at the field check it out and do a test flight, then I ran two batteries through it hovering. The first few things I noticed were...
