AJ Laser 230z 73" Build Thread

Does it seem odd that the 73" V2 has a removable rudder? I don't think the rudder has as big of a foot print compared to making it a removable elevator/horiz stab on this model... but then that adds more weight... so it's a wash I guess.

good pics, thanks! I've always liked ultracote over monocote for the same reason, ultracote is easier to work with and sticks better. Where as I think monokote is lighter. just my 2 cents.

ok Good!! @BirdStrike would you mind trying to post a picture of the parts with the removable rudder? maybe line them up where they'd go on the stab? @Casualplay I don't know why they supply anything other than 4-40... it's pretty frustrating when you'd think that the mfgr should have a pretty...

AJ Laser 230z 73" Build Thread

Do you have V1 or V2? The old version (V1) uses epoxy as below: V2 has a removable rudder... I am unfamiliar with this setup. Check out post #27 on this thread. Tim didn't really cover it per say the rudder, but rudder and elevator are hinged the same way. Look at his post #3 on hinging through...

Good to know. Which resin (P/N) did you use from their site, I see they have quite a few.

I would leave it uncut. Just make sure you have adequate ventilation using the 3:1 rule (inlet should be a third the size of the outlet) as close as you can to get rid of any cowling pressure. The bottom line is you need to make the surrounding air as ambient as possible for the best...

Aerobeez 38" EPP Slick 540 Build Thread!

I did that once... Mojo 40 maiden flight, barely made a full circle back to the runway. horrible landing, but luckily for the mojo, the gear took the shock. I bent it back, reversed the ailerons, took a deep breath and flew it again. Like you said "dumb mistake"... needless to say, I always...

Bench Set Up That's a good way to do it too! I wonder if I could make one like that where the intermediate supports could be disassembled for storage... Thanks Bipenut

Perfect! I've seen some bike tables that are built to a tough/sturdy construction, I may try to make a knock off of that.

I like it. That is the design I had in mind. I like that you didn't go overkill, although I figured if I was going to put one together I'd probably add 4X4 legs, beef it up, add drawers for storage, and locking castors like you just mentioned. After all if the space is going to get used up, I...

Discussion Benches and Shop Setups & Storage for Model Aircraft

I've seen quite a few custom benches over the years that people use for building & maintaining model aircraft, and some clever storage ideas. I didn't already see a discussion on this where people can share photos and ideas of what they came up with... so why not now? Personally I'd eventually...
