The 'What did you do in your workshop tonight?' thread

Got my new Multiplex FunRay all programmed up last night. I did some initial flying on Saturday with it setup like a conventional airplane, but gliders need more specific programming to take advantage of lift conditions out on the slope. So I programmed in my thermal and speed settings, as well...

Of course I didn't take any photos but I got my hands on a coworkers 70" Slick and started to work on fixing some things that just weren't right with it. Started off by readjusting the rudder pull pull cables. They had stretched so much over the years that the cable ends were screwed all the way...

That's an 86", haven't flown one. I flew the 104" ARS last summer and it's a phenomenal flying airplane. Lots of tail authority and very aggressive flying.

Bill Hempels Team Edge still operating ?

It's a good idea, but not practical enough to implement. Battery tech just isn't there yet to be probable for all airplanes, and it's why you don't see many people going electric on their 40%+ airplanes. I have a 40lb 40% airplane (AJ Aircraft 115" Laser 230Z) that would not fly the same with a...

First flights of 2019 in the bag  It was an oddly cloudy (and rainy o_O ) day in the driest county in the US, but the Yuma Aeromodelers club was more than happy to facilitate me, Mike Dobbies, and Dan Skuropacki with our AJ airplanes.

Yes, Temporary Flight Restriction. Lots of border activity here as of late and the Border Patrol is requiring all of the airspace in the area. I also experienced something new this morning on my way into work. Black Ice apparently occurs when temps are in the low 20's, and going sideways at...

Actually it makes sense in the sense that they already have a HUGE line of gyro enabled receivers, whereas the PS receivers are traditionally not equipped with such. They made it an optional plug in unit because it makes it simple to upgrade your existing PS receiver to a gyro enabled receiver...

Question? What's good in cheap servos these days?

Bart you should've gone with the HS-1005SGT for all surfaces. I'm betting you'd make a lot of people LOL with that decision. $100 airplane, $1800 in servos

Technique, combined with some strength. The idea is to turn yourself into a rubber band and unwind at just the right moment to throw it forward- pitching up comes from a mix. The good news is one good throw yields a good flight time, and some of the local guys here get quite a long flight time...

Yep, Chrysler LA 5.2 Magnum. The repair kit came from Hughes, and they were very specific on how you assemble their components and they expressly stated that any deviations will cause failure. They were also very specific on not using any kind of RTV or sealer with their gasket and what I'm...

    Yippee! What the postman brought

One of the many reasons I purchase Thunder Power packs. They put whatever connector on it that I so choose. Deans are the only plug I'll ever run, unless the current figures exceed 60 amps and then I bump up to EC5 :oblong:

So let me tell you guys about my Sunday flying excursion....:rolleyes::rolleyes: Started out as a normal, clear, cold morning. Decided to go fly since Saturday the field was rained out. The photo that was sent out on Sunday morning showed a lack of water across our road surface...

Had to do a repair to the bottom of the intake on my Jeep. Also did valve cover gaskets at the same time since I was already in there. Glad half of the valve cover bolts weren't finger tight :oblong: Last thing to do now is fuel pump. I might just pick up a new airplane for Christmas so I...
