The I'm going out flying thread 2016

@Xpress Are you running 12s 5000s in that? And are the batteries completely drained after a flight like that?

Sport 30% Edge 540 Pete Marshall Plans with Laser Cut Short Kit

I looked over the plans last night and this morning to figure out the rest of the wood needed for this short kit. This list is what is needed plus a slight amount of extra. I will keep this post updated with required pieces if I need more. 450" of 1/4" square balsa 732" of 3/8" square balsa...

I would be flying today... but this weekend is bringing 20 mph winds the whole time... I will be wearing shorts, but still no flying.

Sport 30% Edge 540 Pete Marshall Plans with Laser Cut Short Kit

Thanks @rcpilot82 The laser cut parts look amazing! Even putting the names of all the pieces on them as well. That will make life much easier! I finished my P-47 radio setup tonight so tomorrow I will start going through the plans to get a shopping list ready for the rest of the wood I will...

The I'm going out flying thread 2016

At our club, most announce which way they are taking off and landing... I am usually polite and ask the question... "Didn't you mean left to right?" or vice versa if they state the wrong way according to the wind. . I would hate for someone to lose a plane by not simply mentioning something is...

And I am sure they put their planes down on the first 50 ft of the runway...

Sounds like some cables on the runway and hooks on the planes are in order then as well? Having some dudes around that have problems landing and stopping sounds familiar... we have problems with that at our field which is over 500 ft.

Good repurposing of a landfill! I can see how you can get some unpredictable winds. Looks like a fun place to fly. I don't know if I would call it an aircraft carrier though;)

?? Fly on top of an aircraft carrier with all kinds of terrain around? Please elaborate!

I know 2 pilots that fly that plane now. Both enjoying it thoroughly.

Still don't have anything GS to fly... so I guess I will have to take out the 64" EF MXS and the 700 heli this afternoon... 74 degrees and 10 mph winds here!

Sport 30% Edge 540 Pete Marshall Plans with Laser Cut Short Kit

Made progress by building my new work table. It ended up being about 100 bucks total. 80x30 hollow core doors.

    Because it's ZooFebruary, that's why!

Our cockpit does a very good job with heating up as well. The air conditioner does not do a good job unless we are "high" altitude. So I can empathize a little with you anyway.

I would love to go for a sof helo ride with the doors off! Some in our squadron got the ride with the little birds at an exercise. I don't think they appreciated it as much as I would have.

    Because it's ZooFebruary, that's why!

I know... But still a good reason for a new plane;) taking a shot at 2500 feet away from a target at around 150ft off the deck gives a nice rush and brings almost certain destruction for pretty much whatever is in the crosshairs! I am currently finishing a P-47 that will have the somewhat...

@Bartman, sorry to make some hidden feelings show. I was just telling it how it is. Range time is good, and also spending money gets people feeling better as well. Sounds to me like a new plane is in order!!!
