I might be interested in an unpainted cowl, heck I would even be interested in a plaster plug as it would give me somewhere to start as I have nothing. Then I could make a mold and go from that. BTW where are you located? I am in Central California.
I have the Xcub landing gear and I'll be running 2- 6000mah batteries, I have a rimfire 1.70 (30cc) that I was planning to use but I'm not sure it'll be enough power for the timber. I don't need 3D power but I don't want it to be way under powered either. With a40cc XPwer and 2-5000mAh batteries I was coming at just under 20lbs.
My big crash (reciever failure) was into a wet wound of dirt between to trees and destroyed the fuse, cowling and LG everything else was fine. I jumpd on line and found the fuse for 50% off or $180. Also ordered the X-cub LG. took me a year to get back to working on it and last flight I lost on of the AirTop 7 in tires, so I now I have to order another pair. Still worth it, I love that plane. I notice that everyone is stripping the covering off the LG, is there a real reason for this?View attachment 121411
Well sometimes depth perception gets the best of us and ya know… it was my turn. I was decending from the white clouds “inside” the tree line and for one second I thought “I’m kinda close to those….SMACK” about 100ft up and hanging from a branch wedged in the elevator counterbalance gap was my beloved Timber. Stuck in a tree. I evaluated the scenario and told myself it’s time to claim defeat and call a tree service to perform an extraction. They said they were busy but knew a guy who could help if I paid him some cash ($100) and said let’s do it. I handed that guy $200 after seeing how much care he gave to my plane and how tricky it was. We were both happy as it just started to rain.
The undercarriage needs the most work along with the fuselage. The servo motor burned out - rightfully so! Holding a 20# plane for that long. Hung up the fuselage for now.
This happened earlier this spring just never posted it yet.
