Needed a bit of relief for the side of the muffler in the cowl.


Then mocked up the dummy radial again. It just occurred to me if I want the dummy cowl mounted to the engine I’m going to have to make a opening all the way to the edge for the exhaust in order to make it work. Hmmm. I don’t like hacking up a cowling but might just have to.

Cut out the exhaust to the edge so I can eventually glue the dummy radial to the cowl.

Surface prepped the cowl for paint!

I’ve repainted the full scale tail cone in these colors, and I remember using a laser to help keep the lines strait. I didn’t want to go full blown perfectionist, so I used blue masking tape. Made the lines strait to the tail and crossed in the middle. Then masked off the ends so they were about level with the sides. The trimmed with a xacto blade and my eye ball. Offf. Took a while!

Actually turned out not too bad! Just need to let that cure and do the light blue stripes.

The little details are killers. very nice.

Masked off the windows and prepped the rest with 440 grit and a little isopropyl.

Then I painted the windows! Imagine that! Peeled off the tape while still tacky. Now to let that cure for a couple days.... then a little blue and a bit of black.
