Scale 20cc Edge 540 Profile “The Glitter”

Well boys fixing my old profile just to get me through the summer. But what I have been doing is I could not make up mind if I should use a Y.S. 120 on 20% nitro or a O.S. Gt22 for the new Glitter. Well after a lot of number crunching and weighing parts I believe the the O.S. has a very slight advantage. Weight it is so close not even worth mentioning. But the Y.S. has. Lot more torque in the mid range and the OS has much stronger top end. But the fuel cost and oil on the plane is another concern. I believe right now the O.S. is going to installed on the new Glitter. Both swing a 17-6.

So I gotta ask. Anybody considering the RCGF 26cc?? too much motor? for some reason it's lighter and half the cost than the OS? are these specs true? The RCGF seems like a solid motor based one some folks here and other places in the depths of the interwebs. My guess is the specs are a little off. @BalsaDust said he had experience with the 20cc motors with the probros and the OS22 is a solid choice along with the DLE20RE?
Here are some fun comparisons:
(weight: eng+muff+ign)
RCGF26cc 943g $210 (just let that $$ sink in a little bit)
RCGF20RE 795g $230
OS22GT 999g $430
DLE20RA 880g $285
DLE20 870g $250
VVRC21 808g $240
VVRC20 907g $230
YS120 880g $?

Interesting. All but 3/4”

Here is the link to the 3/4” sleeve at F3A Unlimited
https://www.f3aunlimited.com/gator-7-8-carbon-fiber-wing-tube-and-sleeve-gc1001-2407

guessing this is a full length sleeve with this tube?

I will just get the 3/4 tube from goodwinds and just make some sleeves not a big deal.

$15-20 for a tube... then a sleeve from gator with a tube is $60. Makes me curious how one makes a sleeve!! I saw a tutorial on FG how to make a sleeve. I am curious how you make a sleeve. I don't know how one could make a sleeve that is tight enough if wrapping the tube to be used in wax paper/saran wrap. How would you go about doing this?

The one problem with the Y.S. you have to carry twice the fuel. And with JTec making me a new muffler the motor should lose about four oz and gain 500 to 800 rpm the OS muffler is quite restricting and heavy.

Yes, full length is my understanding as well. Will be ordering a 7/8” tube for my pattern plane soon.

A buddy of mine tried the rcgf 26. Things he noted. Wider crankcase so you have to widen the motor mount a bit. Made good power but didn’t handle being thrown around in 3D like the others. Basically came to the conclusion it was fine for planes flying scale or even scale aerobatics but when getting into HA flight or extreme 3D it would stall on him.

I also wouldn’t run the rear exhaust version of the dle.

Never heard anything of the vvrc 21cc but I know from watching that their 20cc is cheaper than a dle and I feel ran better and made more low end torque.

I ran an RCGF 26cc beam mount on this one for a number of years, the beam did need widening slightly during the build. Was a great little engine and even better after the Bowman ring install.
