78'' Extra

That doesn't sound good.

I don't know what i did though cause it was running like a champ before this happened. It never sagged on up-lines or wanted to quit. Had it tuned well and was VERY pleased with how well it was running. Smooth and powerful and never missed a beat in the air. I suppose i was rather rough on it in the air though.

Hopefully they get it fixed, i really want to continue to enjoy this setup. I emailed Tower last night so we'll see how they handle it. I'll keep you guys updated.

A stuck ring is no big deal and can be repaired easily with no new parts. It is usually a result of running extremely rich for a long time...the ring gets gummed up by oil and crap and can't expand properly to seal to the cylinder, and then you lose all compression. However it doesn't sound like you ran it too rich. They can also stick for other reasons....I am looking forward to what Hobby Services has to say.

LOL! I will bet you dollars to donuts Hobby Services will say it is your fault, and charge you for a piston and ring, at a minimum.

Weak! That wouldn't be very nice of them :crying:

The only thing that sucks is even if it does get fixed i don't know what i did to cause this in the first place so i'm not sure how i'd prevent it from happening again. I guess we'll just wait to see what they say.

Haha yeaaah i've been going through the planes pretty fast lately :)

The 104" is one of those planes i always look at even though there is no way i could afford.

Maybe one day though :D

Sitting here at the field in the car to warm up (underdressed)! Wishing I had my 78 done. Gusting to 25, 48" planes upside down to keep from blowing away. Trying to practice IMAC and wind corrections with the 60 extra.
Will post some pics today of the vinyl job on the 78 for scrutiny! Should be doing setup this week.
I saw Gary's post about advice from Chris RE: sticking to one airframe till its wired. I'm trying that (its hard). I am used to loading up the car with a buffet of planes!
Back soon, gotta go fly. Noone else here.

You could really use the 78'' with those 25mph gusts :veryshocked:

I definitely try and follow the advice of sticking to one plane at a time. I usually get really excited about a plane and fly that plane only until i feel i really know that plane. Then i usually start to push it to the point of crashing. Then, of course, it's time for a new airframe :)
