Sweet! It's looking good!

Do you already have the pipe or do you still need to order it? I can't wait to see what the tuned pipe will do for the DLE.

I'm waiting on a response to my email that i sent to Hobby Services expressing my displeasure with their "service". I have a feeling they won't get back to me and i'll end up having to call since it's been a few days now. I think i might put the OS on another 30cc plane with the stock muffler when i get it back and get a 35cc engine to put my tuned pipe on. I love the OS but i don't feel confident pushing it hard if i'm going to be paying for repairs every few months.

I'm very lucky. The person who sold me the 78 has an ES 30 and 40 both like new. We're going to pick the best one. I understand they just went to an ES 35 now. I'm hoping we guessed close on offset, down and right thrust. Don't feel like dicking too much but that's part of the hobby too. This is a whole new learning curve- chokes, throttle servos, ignitions, ibecs, tachs (also was given an onboard tach which will help with tuning), etc.
I agree with you on the OS. If you don't know what caused it you will always have it on your mind. With this kind of flying (on the edge all the time) you can't have those second thoughts. I'm trying to set up as reliable airframe and power system as I can to not think about it. When I go to fly I want to do just that- fly, not tweak and dicker. I do realize the first several outings will be "lab" work but after that- fuel, flip, fun (and possibly f-up but then fix and repeat from fuel!).

Awesome!!!

When can we expect video?

Waiting on a new hat cam. I was using a key fob that never let me video more than about 2.0 G even with an 8G card? I went with the HK one for $35. I try to vid every flight for self critique so when I get a worthy one you'll see it. Don't expect too much but I'll share. My skin is pretty thick so I'll be open the critiques!
I'll try to document the tune up, break in and tuned pipe process as we go along. I started a DLE 35 mod thread in articles also that will be updated. Thanks for the encouragement. Going on a 5 day trip so no progress for a few days. Gotta save for props and gas!

Can't wait to see some video of the DLE35. I'm really missing my 78! Hobby Services hasn't even responded to my email, i guess i'll have to call and complain but i have a feeling it'll be sitting until they get the parts. I'm disappointed since it was really a perfect match for the plane. Great throttle response and power, super fun. It was super reliable up until it's last flight.

I'm so looking forward to flying this plane again!

I've been looking at the VVRC 40CC twin real hard but the DA35 is so close and i already have a pipe that would work with it. I would love to see what the twin would be like in the 78 though.

Wait for Enterprise to report. He has one running now. He should start a thread on it. I'll ask him to. Only problem with the twin is piping is really out due to space in a 30cc airframe. He's got the stock muffler on it and says its pretty loud.
"Close" is a relative term on the DA 35. They were "close" in April too!

Yeah, i'm watching his progress with the engine. Hopefully it's a winner. It looks like it'd be a cool little engine.

My engine is going to be a while so i have a while. I really shouldn't buy a new engine without selling the OS first.
Matt's 40cc twin is really very impressive.
Good to know. I hope it last!

Here is my hatcam video from last Saturday on the VVRC 40. Took a while to figure out how to get it to upload in a way that was edited. This is the third flight. Prop is a Xoar 20 3Db. I am going to try a Vess 20B next as this prop got nicked the next day on the pavement.

Thanks for getting footage of the twin! If you can get an RPM reading with the 20B that'd be awesome! It looks so cool but i'll wait a while to see a few more reports. Keep the info coming please

Hone don't stress bout the rpm that engine sounds fine twins make torque so you shouldn't need to rev it as hard
