78'' Extra

Got 3 flights in today, ten minutes each. I'm having a freakin' blast flying this plane! I mixed out the very little KE coupling that i had and now the plane is even more locked in. It's awesome how aggressive this plane is, it seriously flys as aggressive as the 48''! Daniel said the 78'' has the lightest wing loading of all the Extras that EF sells. You can really tell when you're doing 3D with it, it definitely feels bigger than a 30cc plane.
I'm trying to get video soon

Ok, just stop. :)
I miss mine severely! But am trying to be content with the planes I have and hold out for the 78" MXS rather than buy another of these to replace the one I killed... they are due back in stock soon I think, and the more I read you raving about how much you like it, the more I remember how much I loved mine too! I'm afraid I'm going to lose the battle and have to buy one of these soon... finances are not looking good for another 600 dollar purchase right now!! Then a motor too... wait for the DA-35 or twin 40?

I am as big a DA fanboy as much as anyone, but I sold my 78 to Daren because of the ridiculous wait for the DA-35.
Now I am stuck with the 91 EF Extra......

Speaking of your old Extra and Daren, he managed second place at his first IMAC contest this weekend with it. Go Daren!

Woohoo! Came down to one poorly placed spin in the sun in my first flight. Great time, great group of guys and gals, great venue, great plane (thanks Gary! sorry you are "stuck" right! with the 91, if you get bored you know where I am!) and also I had a GREAT caller for the majority of my flights, some kid, Cody Wo something (lots of consonants)! For the other flight one of his junior proteges- Steve the Knife- thanks buddy.
Cody- thanks a million, it was a blast and watching you wring the snot out of that 104 in freestyle then watching your other student in the McCormack family make his AW scream for mercy was a well spent 8 minutes of freestyle judging- awesome.
Hey Ryan, sorry man but I'm one more- it's a 78 love fest, get a ticket!

Back to the thread business- I'm piping the DLE 35 tomorrow, need one clamp. We're starting with the 30CF pipe, if that's not good enough we'll go with the 40. I'm not a tinkerer so I am optimistic for great performance from the 30.
Stats on the stock muffler and a Hover 20x6 CF prop after about 2 gal of air cooled penzoil mixed with ethanol free gas:

reliable low idle- 1700 rpm
high idle-2180
mid stick- 6400
Full throttle static- 7920

Starts- choke, 1-2 flips, pop. choke off- 1-2 flips and go all at high idle setting (on a switch mix).

Gary's guess with the pipe is 8800. Gary for the beer I'm saying 8700. Closest without going over. Although I'll happily buy you a beer for the loss!:veryshocked: more power!

Great job, Daren!

Thanks Hone. It was hard controlling myself with my new toy doing the Basic but I managed. Hardest thing- not doing my after takeoff half roll CG check (electric habit I'm trying to break). IMAC doesn't like any out of box Acro!
For Ryan's sake I won't repeat how much I'm loving this airframe. Oooops, did I type that?
