78'' Extra

I fixed my 87" SHP gear when it mildly delaminated by putting some thin CA into the spot, then wrapping with CF tape, and adding more CA. Plenty of flights since, with no issues.

Good source for CF tape? Thanks.

I have a question about the pull/pull set up in the Extra 78"? Do you cross the wires or is it a straight run.

Cross and try to position them so they don't rub. You can put one on top of the servo arm and one below to give a little separation at the intersection. Also, don't tension the cables too tight. You shouldn't have any play when deflecting the rudder but not much tighter.

Ok my pull pull cables aren't crossed. I've looked at about every image on the internet of the inside of these airframes and what I'm seeing is about 50/50 crossed and not. Please elaborate. Is this a personal preference or is it a setup issue. I'm just trying to get mine right! Thank you!

I knew I remembered somewhere reading to leave them straight.

I've never seen them straight (not that that matters) and I believe the instructions have them crossed. May be wrong.

Don't know about this post and the person on FG who made it. I do know that every 3DHS manual that I've read directs you to cross the pull pull cables, so that's what I do. I figure Ben and company know more about this detail than I do, so I will follow their direction.

In the Osiris, AJ had you run them straight. Somewhere in the HPP AJ #3 video he explains this, but I have can't remember the details.

If pull pull cables are crossed you get more slop when rudder is deflected, the more deflection the more slop, but that's usually not a big problem,
when cables are straight they will most likely rub against a bulkhead or sidewalls of rear fuselage due to less convenient entry angle of the cable into fuse
actually in many cases this isn't a problem, I have planes with crossed and straight cables, they all fly great

Ordered 2" CF tape from eBay. Will try to stiffen up the stock EF gear as a backup. Graph tech hvy dty will be primary. Going to do wheel pant beefing up too!
