78'' Extra

FYI, I ordered my replacement 2 weeks ago, and still no shipping. EF seems to be a bit behind on processing orders.

Unless the DA-35 totally blows the DLE-35 out of the water, you are going to want a pipe to get that extra oomph. This airframe has a history of not having enough power on gas IMHO until we stumbled upon the DLE-35/ES pipe combo or the VVRC 40 twin. It was designed around 10s 5000 electric, and they later made a gas version.

DA says the their 35 will turn the 21x8 which is what I run on the twin so maybe. Run a 19x10 or 20x8 for speed.

Speed... I like speed... This one might work:

21x8 minus one / plus one rule = 20x9 :D

Thanks for the pic's, it gave me some ideas.

I used 2/56 ball links for the thottle. I recessed the non-structural overhang protion of the engine box so there is not binding from idle to full thottle. Also, I found a servo arm that is narrow compared to the plastic servo arms. Before I intalled the narrow servo arm I had a slight bind. As you can see from the pics, there is no binding at the servo when throttle is closed.

I did a custom z-bend to get a custom step for the throttle line vs the throttle body with the same non-structural overhang "notch". See attached picture. I really like this setup better than my first angled attempt.

Order mine on Oct 7th, delivered on the 9th. You might call to check on it unless they got mine processed and out the door before getting backed up.

I have a question for you guys running the VVRC 40cc. Are you guys baffling the engine? If so, do you have any good pics? Here are some picks of mine with the 3/8" customstandoffs.com... and spinner gap :) Also showing my cutout and custom air-dam in the pipe compartment. I want to get some balsa and/or some black ultracote to cover up the landing gear like on most of the 3DHS planes.

(sorry for all the pics, just wanted to show in case someone else was interested)

I still have good resolution for the throtle servo, it's at 100%/100%.

All I have left to do is: cut the canopy for the exhaust, install the fuel filler, tank and fuel lines; then, I'll balance the little beast.

Again, thanks for the help!

On some engines you can rotate the throttle arm 180 degrees...is that possible with the VVRC40? If that causes conflict with the choke arm, there are offset throttle/choke arms (different heights) available that allow them to operate without hitting each other...I think TBM and others sell these. I'm using these on my DLE-30 with good results.

I was going to rotate mine but there is a key/slot in the arm. It's a one way deal on these. Perhaps you could go into the carb and rotate it but I just worked around it.

For anyone running the Valley View RC 40cc twin on this airframe and wondering about how to close the large spinner gap with the stock engine standoffs, I received some custom standoffs today from www.customstandoffs.com. They are 3/8" long. I will report the results when I get them installed later this evening.

Pics with 3/8" standoffs. Money!

Cool. My replacement airframe should be here on Tuesday. I think I will make some 7mm Evolution standoffs and washers to make that same gap.
