I think you’ll like the Li-Fe packs. I run them in all my gassers.
Hey Mike,

I like Li-Fe batteries too. I quit using nickel chemistry batteries a long time abo. I run Li-Fe's in every gas and glow plane I have. To be honest, I still don't know why I screwed up and ordered the Li-Ion's because ever since I decided to use two rudder servos, the Li-Ion's would have been total overkill. I guess the price enticed me to order them, instead of using my brain. . . . ..

Hey Fellas,

Just a little update this afternoon. It is such a nice day today that I spent the morning at the flying field. Then I decided to go put some servo's in the Yak while the weather was nice. I temporarily put the elevator servos in the stabs, then I realized I had misplaced my servo connector clips. . . . . . . :ugh!:. So that put an end to putting my servos in. Then I figured I'd add a little bling to my Yak compliments of @pawnshopmike .

I can now officially say that I have a Giant Scale plane. . . . . . . :big_yes:.

Yak 16.jpg

I also found a nice place for Skully too. . . . . . . :yesss:.

Yak 18.jpg

And finally a little extra Bling for the rudder. She's looking better all the time, don't you think?

My batteries should be in one day this week so I will find my servo clips and finish putting my servos in. Hopefully one day next week I will be able to get my 3Dub boxed up and on its way to the G-Man. With any luck She'll be ready to go by the beginning of May. . . . . . :dancing-chicken:.

Thank you my friend. . . . . . . :way_to_go:.

While I was putting servos in the Yak last Sunday, I got to thinking about the very nice hat that either @pawnshopmike or Thomas at MKS sent me with my servos. The hat is shown in one of the pictures on the previous page of this thread. The last thing I want to do is sound ungrateful, but in all my 56 years, I never have liked to wear hats. I'd really hate to see such a nice hat like this sit here and collect dust when someone else might enjoy wearing it. With that being said, I am offering the hat to any of you fellas that would like to have it. What I'm thinking about doing is waiting until after the re-maiden day for the Yak when I will be finished with this project and put everyone's name in the hat who has contributed to my thread. Then I will draw a name and send the hat to the person whose name I drew. I will even pay for shipping the hat. What do you guys think?

Contests seem to be popular these days.
If we’re all trying to figure out how to win stickers as part of the EP&G Aerobatic team, imagine what we might do for a hat!

Hey Wade,

That's the beauty of what I want to do. Everyone in the thread has already qualified to be in the drawing for the hat. . . . :yesss:.

Hey fellas,

Got a little time yesterday to work on the Yak. I put the servos in one wing and when I went to do the other, I realized the first pre-made extension I got with the plane was more than long enough, but the other one was not long enough so I only get the servos in one wing. I wanted to see if I would be able to put the Yak in the back of my Durango with the horizontal stabs on. I should have known better, but I didn't. Anyway, there's no way in tarnation that its going to fit with the stabs on. . . . :face-palm:. While I was at it yesterday, I went ahead and put the throttle and choke servos on.

So with approximately 130oz/in of torque, I believe the word overkill is an understatement. . . . .. Also, I'm also not going to be able to use my SWB servo tray without some modifications to the plane. . . . ..

As you see in the picture, the rudder servo support fits between two formers. My problem is that the servo tray is at least an inch and a half longer. The fact that the piece of plywood is not flush with the top of the formers, increases the amount of modifications I have to do. I definitely do not want to cut the former at the rear. I can add a piece of plywood to fill in the depth void, but it won't help the servo tray length problem. So as it looks, I am going tio have to add two pieces of wood. one to fill the void and one to support the servo tray. Either that, or get a different double servo set up and just mount the servos in the provided holes. Lastly, I could just use one servo. What do you guys think? All advice is welcome. . . . . :yesss:.

Shorten the cables, slap in some wood rails and install the servo tray. Although i usually use the premade slots.

Well,

Like my friends Rob & Doug, life has taken me away from not only my favorite website, but flying and working on anything as well. . . . . . :(. That's going to change very soon, thankfully so I will be able to get back on my Yak. :banana-dance:. During my absence, I have done some thinking about a few choices I still have to make for the Yak. I have been giving allot of thought about the engine. I have about decided that instead of me boxing up an engine and sending it to the G Man, I will just give the G Man a call and have him box one up and send it to me. . . . . . . :yesss:. Hopefully my next post in this thread will include pictures of what I have decided to do.

I hope everyone is having an AWESOME flying season so far. . . . :big_yes:.
