Build: EF 88" Edge 540T

I was having problems with the DA 60, sent it in, and $200 later I had a bad taste in my mouth from that motor. So I sold it and got an EME 70.

I got the old holes plugged up Tuesday night. My 10-32 hardware for mounting the motor came yesterday so I got the new holes drilled, blind nuts installed, and resealed the firewall where the dremel knocked away the previous thinned epoxy sealer sanding down the filler dowels.

Nothing too exciting. I got the engine mounted and the throttle pushrod set up.

I also installed the spark plugs. I just did about 1/16th of a turn. What is everyone else doing?

Next up is to cut the cowling for the mufflers. I'll probably buy another cowling but for now I'm just going to use the old one.

I got a crude cutout for the mufflers in the cowling. If I need to adjust it, I can make the modifications with the mufflers on.

I also got the mufflers on. I used Hondabond for the gasket material and Loctite 272 for the bolts. If I have to redo this, I'll need another tube. I had to cut it open to get to anything that was usable.

I'm hoping to get this flying Saturday afternoon or Sunday. We will see if the weather holds.

I got some baffling done for the motor tonight. I just need to re-install the fuel tank and some other stuff and open up the cowling for the mufflers a little more.

Well unless something else comes up.

Did you get this thing done and flying? How is the EME 70 for power?

Yeah but I've only flown it twice with the EME 70. The weather in the Texas Panhandle sucks for flying and a pilot may only get out 5-10 times per year at most. Right now I am packing everything to move and so I should have more to report on the EME 70 later.

So far, the power is pretty good but it's still breaking in.

5-10 times a year!?!? dude.... not cool! The weather here in Southeast AK is pretty bad.... is that why your moving? better flying weather??? I'll be following your report of the EME70, @Bipenut53 did a review on this motor as well and has nothing but good things to say about it.

Yes and no. Thankfully my company is relocating our R&D facility to better meet market needs.

That being said, I made sure it was going to an area with good flying weather.
