Looking good, bagging it the way to go instead of weights. I'm going to get the stabs, rudder and belly pan done this weekend.

Looking forward to checking that out.

Are you going with one or two rudder servos in the tail or pull pull? I am going to use Smooth pipes so I think I will need the weight in the tail.

I have decided on a GP 123 with Smooth pipes http://www.planebenderproducts.com/page18/index.html the med ones. I have a couple of these on other planes and they are very smooth transition with a substantial gain in power. Makes it possible to fly 3D without the on-off feel of a tuned pipe but with the power.

My complete box fuse came in just under 3lbs I hope that's in the ball park. I did add a couple extra cross braces and balsa bones so those were a weight penalty.

I am not to worried about this as it's the bottom belly pan. It has a low cut spot in the middle, what should I fill it in with or should I shave the sides down to match? Should I glue in scrap foam and shape it? I never flew or worked with foam planes so no experience here. Thanks

I have the same problem on mine and that is where the wire had to sit since this end is smaller than the other end. I contacted Rick about it and he said that we can use lightweight spackling compound to fill in that area before sheeting.

I'm still undecided on my motor, it will either be a DA100 or a DLE120. Post some pictures when you start setting the pipes up, I might like to put them on mine too.

I will have to weigh my fuse but I think i was just under 3lbs too.

This may help. This is from the build i done on other side.


With length being so long the foam cuts come out better if I separate and do two separate cuts from same block. Still have a very small heat undercut at tail end. This is easy to fix. I used a light weight spackle from Red devil from Menards. Same thing I use for pin holes in fiberglass and any dents dings on sheeting.
I glued the two blacks together holding with mask tape and then glued and laid in the two bottom deck pieces. More wax paper and same thing for inner husk. Taped shimmed and weighted the whole ling down.
The balsa sheets were cut and test fit then spread the epoxy on as before. I got in a hurry and forgot to spray the sheets down with hairspray first. As soon as I started spreading the glue and saw how much faster it soaked in I knew what I forgot but too late. Next night I pulled this out from the vacuum bag and again the bagging process seemed to make a really good part.

On my build for the 35% I talk about this also. The 35% came out realy clean. It could be i changed the end profile or it could be the length dif. I plan to go back the the 42% and try this.

I was not sure what to use and was going to experiment. I thought just about everything eats foam LOL. I have that same filler and will use it tonight.
