Rebuilding the Yak...again.

Did not realize that it was a twin spark engine. Question if one ignition fails can you feel a change in the engine while flying.
I have used the spiral stuff and like it. You use both looks like the spiral suff for the ignition and the snake skin for the internal wiring Why.

I can not answer the first question. I have never had one of the ignitions fail while flying. However, from what I have discovered on the ground while testing, If one or the other ignitions is disconnected or disabling it...there is a definite loss of rpm. Once reconnected, the lost rpm is regained. I can only assume from this that the advertised HP rating of 23 horse would go down substantially if one of the ignitions fail. But....the engine does indeed continue to run. Which means under normal circumstances of a loss of an ignition module...The plane will still come home safe. That is why I set it up with (2) ignition batteries, one for each module. (2) Opto-Kill ignition switches and set up on (2) separate channels on my rx. Short of the engine dying for some other reason, which was the case of the reeds....that plane is coming home running. As for the spiral vs. the Snakeskin. I have found the plastic spiral to be a little difficult to work with for some of the setups I do. So I pretty much maintain the plastic spiral to the ignition systems. As for the remaining wiring...just my opinion, the Snakeskin really adds a certain..."sa-weetness" to the plane. Plus, it forces me to do a nice clean install. LOL

Well, one last final test fit of everything. Wings are quite snug going into the pockets...Not too tight, just really-really nice fit. Everything lines up perfectly. Stabs of course didn't change. Nice fit against the fuse. Canopy fits really tightly. Overall, I am pleased with the re-build. Only one thing left to do now fellas. Charge that Behemoth Yak and "FLY" it like there is no tomorrow. Weather has turned off kind of chilly with a few rain showers passing through the valley. But Saturday's forecast is for sunshine with some warmer temps. My son and I are planning a Yak kind of day at the field.

Here are few photos of the final test fit. I am so excited to have this big bird done and flyable again.
