When I was at Joe Nall I saw Jase Dussia’s Raven 180 cowl had a screen in the front of the air scoop. I went on Amazon and found the closest thing to it which was 30 micron. If you put your had 8” in front of you and blow then introduce the mesh screen the air flow is diminished considerably. This is nice as it not only acts like a bug screen but also prevents ram air from messing with the carb diaphragm.
This leaves a 45% opening so half the airflow gets through.

Whoops I meant to say 30 mesh, not 30 micron! I think that's like 600 microns! I just looked up 25 microns and thats like a white blood cell HA!

Been messing with some glow stuff lately. This OS 46FX started giving me some trouble last week with leaking out the rear case gasket and not wanting to hold a tune anymore. I don't know how old it is, or how much fuel has been ran through it, plus it was making some bearing noise, so I tore it down.

While I had it torn down I cleaned all of the gunk up out of it, then installed new bearings, new o-rings to replace the non existent ones, new head and case gaskets, and some fresh fuel tubing. Wouldn't you know, it started first flip and idled like a kitten. Compression was bumped up too, guessing one of the gaskets was letting air out, and it screams now.

Always fun playing with some of the classic models now and then. Got this 40 Kaos a couple years ago before they went away forever. Such a great flying airplane for shooting touch n go's and sporting around.

Very cool. One of these days when I get real bored I'll have to slap a Saito 4-stroke on something just for kicks and giggles. Always loved the way they sound.
