flew mine today also! first time with the wire LG plus i added CF to the trailing edges of the ailerons, elevator and rudder and on top of that i sealed my hinges. WOW made the Slick very very responsive. had to lower rates and bump expo up just abit. the control surfaces and no flex to them now. I love the wire LG, it pretty much made this plane flyable just about everywhere.

there was only 3 things i didnt like about the wattaplane slick, LG bolts, wing bolts and tail wheel. well i broke my tail wheel assembly yesterday, actually wasnt even on a landing. i was holding the tail up with my hand and the wind knocked it out of my hand, the tail feel to the ground and the gear broke. so i made my own out of a dubro gear and an EF wheel. should work out pretty decent.

I've been having a great time flying my Slick! It can sure wad itself up when you want it to and the 3D is really smooth.

ha yea, its the only thing i had laying around. would have like to went alil lighter i have a CF tail wheel that needs some repair that ill probably use.

i was worried alil about weight my wattaplane weighs 48oz and im right on the border of 150watts per lb. using a 13x6.5. i static tested a 14x7 with my motorlfy 2815-950 and a CC Ice Lite 50..... i had a whopping 570 watts with a peak of 50amps on a fresh battery, the 50amps was when i first WOT. but the average was around 46 amps with temperature of 98 degrees after running it WOT for 30 seconds.

i emailed Steve @ castle to see if my graph numbers were OK. I was worried about the peak 50 amps. he said my numbers looked fine, no need to worry. he said cut-off temperature on their escs is 270 degrees and that he is happy if his runs below 140 degrees. so im gonna try out the 14x7 unless you guys think i shouldnt.

had an awesome evening flying my Slick this evening*fist pumps i love this plane. first evening i really got to try out the mods, since the wind was alot less hairy today than my last time out. after i got my CG spot on, IT was on. rollers looked alot better. kept the 14x7 prop on this evening, much better than a 13x6.5 IMO. Highest temp on the esc was 89 degrees, with outside temp at 50. So as long as it stays around 40 degrees high than ambient temps i dont think ill have a problem.

oh , yea, you guys that have one, you need to rig up a different tail wheel. i was thinking about changing out the one i fixed up yesterday but after this evening its gonna stay on. no rudder drag'n on harrier landings, or even scale landings.

Did i mention how much i LOVE the wattaplane slick :D if you dont have one yet, do yourself a favor and go get you one!!!!! I promise you wont be dissappointed. i have read or heard of one person that was dissapointed with the wattaplane edge or slick.

I changed my tail wheel also, it had the tail sitting too low for harrier landings. My buddy had a tail wheel from a hanger 9 extra laying around that I used. Simple setup, Aluminum bracket, bent music wire and a nice fat 1" wheel. didn't change the cg at all.
I've got 9 flights total on mine, CG is on the money, perfectly neutral, all trimmed out for hands off upright and inverted, knife edge mixes all set ( not much in the way of mixes, only needed to add aileron to left rudder knife edge, right rudder just needed a little elevator)
I seem to have a small , I guess, "flat spot" in my throttle. It seems that between zero and 1/4 throttle there is very little response. My throttle calibration was done correctly, I tried increasing the timing, helped a little but it's still there. Would adjusting the frequency of the esc help this ? ( sunnysky 2820-950, ZTW "a" series 50 amp esc )
I also tried going to a 13X6.5 from a 14X7, slowed the flight speed down a little but didn't really make a change to the problem .

BTW added new pics of the 55" yak ( first color scheme) to that thread
