Scale Wendell Hostetler 30% PA-28 Cherokee Build

TonyHallo

150cc
The leading and trailing edge sheets are installed and the 1/4" underlayment is glued on the left wing, the right side is a little behind. Might get it glued in place tonight. My wife is having eye surgery tomorrow so will not be able to cut the top airfoil until she is seeing better, maybe Wednesday. I'll be out of pocket tomorrow and the following day at any rate. The wing looks a lot bigger than the original Cherokee, it was 100" span, this one is 108". 2052 square inches.

Got the right wing ready to cut. Next step is to make the templates, been milling over wing washout, thinking 2 to 3 degrees. Discovered that the hershey bar wings did not have any washout while the tapered wing Cherokee 180 has 3 degrees. Any thoughts out there?

The slots for the spars are cut with the aide of templates as well, the spars are glued in with Titebond II and the top section is returned and weighted in place while the glue dries. Onto the left wing. Once the left wing is cut it will be time to edge glue sheeting for the edges.

Got the left spar slots cut and edge glued the sheeting. The sheeting dried quickly so was able to block sand with 220, cut and fit for right wing. The sheeting is glued on with Titebond II except for the leading edge foam where Gorilla Glue is used. The leading edge sheeting is misted with ammonia and the top is returned and weighted into position. The leading edge is clamped to the spar while the trailing edge sheet relies on the weight alone. Running out of weight, had to use vises and parts from the lathe! Heading out for follow up appointment this afternoon, hope to get the left wing sheeting on this evening and install the outer cap strips.
