Best vehicle to transport Giant Scale

42% PAU Extra in my 2005 Explorer, with the rudder on:) ! Easier fit is my Comp Arf 3.1m Extra. I recommend a van, it's a great compromise when you can't store a trailer. I had a 1998 Chrysler Town and Country. I could fit three models in it, a 35%, 30% and a small electric. Only drawback was it...

    Baffled on Baffling...

Thanks for the pictures Terry. I think I'll use the foam board for now, and order some texalium fabric and re-do it with what you have.

    Baffled on Baffling...

I'll wait to see Terry's pictures. I did glue the creative foam with medium CA, so that works great. The cowling isn't straight across the bottom, but is a half circle under the prop shaft. The foam board will bend easily around that opening because the radius is large. Phil, I like your idea of...

    Baffled on Baffling...

I have a PAU Extra 42% with a DA170 that's about 5 years old in it. I want to maiden the plane next week, one of the few details I have left is whether to baffle or not. I haven't baffled an engine for ages, but thinking this model might need it. I have most of a baffle made up of black foam...

    H9/Carden or PAU Extra

I had the 300SP Extra From PAU for almost 4 years, and I recently sold it to make room for a 43% PAU Extra. I used the model for practicing IMAC and to learn what little 3D I know. It was a difficult decision to sell, such an easy airplane to fly and land. It has great all around manners. I had...

Another option is to fly directly away from you. Aileron roll and watch the tail for yaw.

Prop failure....... Have you had one??

Years ago I had a Hangar 9 Sukhoi with a 3W-106 and a 28X10 prop. Took off and about 50ft. in the air it exploded. Shook the engine off the firewall, engine was laying in the bottom of the cowl.

    DA Ignition Question

Didn't take the time to try and run the engine today, weather here has been quite nice the last few days so went flying instead!

    DA Ignition Question

I will be running the engine tomorrow and see how it goes. I ordered another ignition from DA yesterday as well as a cap rebuild kit for this one. I'll post when I run the engine.

    DA Ignition Question

That's what I have on this unit.

    DA Ignition Question

No spring anywhere. I'll order new caps and replace this ignition with a new unit and keep this as a spare.

    DA Ignition Question

I bought a used DA 170 and noticed there are no springs inside the cap that make contact with the plug and the noise suppression resistor. Never have come across this and am guessing they are missing. Thoughts?

    Brand New PAU........Viper-ST Announced!!!!!!!!

Sam, 3W-110 would be a close fit on this frame, but would work. 3W-110 is 7.22" long.

So this should be fun.. GULP.

Steve, did you call the local District Office to see if they would issue you a waiver? If you already have your FAA waiver, might not be that big of a problem. Call the tower and ask to speak to the watch supervisor.

Greg, I have not flown the Extra yet. I'm not quite done and the rains here have been soaking. making our field soft. I have the 35% PAU with a 3W-110 and 3 blade 26-12N. It flies great!

Why do you use HV and / or why don't you?

I switched to HV to get rid of the voltage regulator and the need for matching systems. My radio and/or servos can now do all that. I've also been using S Bus now for the last two years.
