The Ultimate I'm working on has a 92" composite one piece top wing, otherwise known as a small surfboard.;)

Krill 39% Ultimate 300KS Assembly And Paint

After much testing and trial fitting, I finally have a mount for the canisters. I used what Krill calls Alutex, which is a fiberglass and liteply sandwich. You'll notice I used blind nuts spun on upside down while test fitting. That made it simple to spin them on and off for the 20 plus times I...

    IMAC Pattern - Cadence w/ DA 35

There was a guy on YouTube, B1Bob, that did tons of his own molding to build turbine jets, and he made a filler out of cotton flock and resin. Evidently it's really cheap. :)

The canisters and mounts are here so I did some test fitting. Now I need to make a bracket to hold the mounts.

    Yippee! What the postman brought

Evidently they do have issues, but it's only with some servos. Spektrum certainly isn't perfect, but the reliability with mine for the last 8 years has been, so I have no intention of fixing what's not broke if you know what I mean .;)

Krill 39% Ultimate 300KS Assembly And Paint

I've been fitting the headers and cans, plus I cut the access holes in the top of the engine dome. I also swapped a 1/16" washer on each standoff for an 1/8" one. The spinner gap was just too tight. It looks about right now.

    Yippee! What the postman brought

I was going to buy Promodeler servos until I read some posts by Promodeler about compatabilty issues with Spektrum PowerSafe receivers. I emailed them and got a long email back about why I shouldn't use the radio equipment I've been using without issue for years. He said the problem was fixed...

I'm not sure. You can from Carf, I've done that a few times. I don't know if Krill sells theirs or not.

I'll be removing all the mold seams when we paint it. That is one place where Carf is better than Krill. Carf has made a point to get rid of as many mold lines as they can in their newer airplanes.

Krill 39% Ultimate 300KS Assembly And Paint

I actually got a few things accomplished on the Ultimate this weekend. The batteries and throttle servo are going to be mounted on a tray behind the firewall. I started making a cardboard pattern for that, and I also marked the top of the engine dome for some cutouts to reach through to access...

The 'What did you do in your workshop tonight?' thread

It's amazing the lengths a barbarian like me will go to to get something done. I hung the engine with wire ties to get the placement just right for the cowl. I drew around the standoffs then used that to drill my holes. It fits great! I could have stood it on it's tail, set the engine on the...

The span is 92", the cord is 16", the wing is only 1 1/16" thick, and the high point is 5 7/8" from the leading edge.

Krill 39% Ultimate 300KS Assembly And Paint

Hard to believe it's been a month and a half since I've worked on this thing. I'm still waiting on a few key parts, but tonight I'm going to start making a tray behind the firewall to hold the batteries and throttle servo. I can't mount the engine yet, because I'm waiting for some 1/2"...

The 'What did you do in your workshop tonight?' thread

Reading your post I'm not exactly sure of your process. The way I understand it, if I'm reading correctly, you layed down your cloth then put on a coat of epoxy, then primed it, then sanded, then another coat of epoxy? I've never seen epoxy put over a primed surface. I'm guessing there is a...

It does take some planning, but at least weathe doesn't affect you much at all. Painting Lacquer on a humid day was miserable.
