    Okay, here we are. My favorite of course is the Red and Black, but the thought of keeping that black looking good in the middle of summer wouldn't fill me with joy. Of course Rob had covering skills that I don't possess. If your sharp you'll see I changed the color on the guys shirt too.;)

    A very quick and extremely crude (I can't shade with MS Paint) idea of what it would look like without checkers. Imagine a big 3Dub decal on the upper cowl.

    This has always been one of my favorite Extra's. If I ever stumble on another Carf Extra fixer-upper, this is going to be the scheme. Of course I like checkers.:yesss:

    The problem with the mechanical advance on the one in the Extra 230 was you needed to take it apart now and then and lube where it rode on the crank snout or it would stick.

    My flying buddy had an ACE Extra 230 that size with a Sach 3.2. Awesome flying airplane for the time. Sheeted foam wings, turtle deck, and a forest of wood in the fuselage, and we painted it, so it was plenty heavy. It would do the coolest Lomcovák that I've never been able to duplicate with any...
