    AMA and Multirotors

6 inches of snow? This was my driveway about an hour ago: But yeah, I agree that there's a fair amount of sensationalism an overreaction when it comes to multirotors. I would say it's a combination of that and idiots doing idiotic things.

    AMA and Multirotors

I can tell you how we ended up there: We went from RC aircraft being a technology that was only accessible to a small group of enthusiasts with enough time, money and skills on their hands to something that's accessible to anyone with a couple of hundred bucks in their pocket. I think we need to...

    AMA and Multirotors

I'm almost starting to think we NEED regulations and that they would be GOOD for people like us. Let's imagine, for a second, that we get some sane regulation and certifications. Let's imagine you'd have to pay 50 bucks and answer a few questions to get a "license". That wouldn't really hurt any...

IMAC practice tips for new pilots.

So I thought I should start with something really basic in the simulator: Straight line with a roll in the middle, half cuban 8, then back to the same line in opposite direction and rinse and repeat. Sounds easy, huh? Well, doing it with wings level, maintaining the same altitude and heading...

    W R A M Show 2015

I'm probably going to be there Friday. It's been a bit disappointing the last couple of years, but it's the only show in this area, so I'm most likely going.

    The 3DRCForums -Discuss Anything Thread-

Gary did NOT close the Youtube account. In fact, he called me when it happened and he was pretty saddened. I'm very familiar with Gary's perceived shortcomings and the reasons why Mike may have closed his account, but he remains a close friend and I hate to see this coming across as him trying...

    Prop Rip

It's actually a bit more complicated than that. I noticed my 27" was ripping, so I did some more math and I realized you have to take the airspeed into consideration. The formula becomes rpm = sqrt(c^2 - v^2) / d * pi for metric units. OK, that's a mouthful. What it means in real terms is that...

    3D Hobbyshop 106" Edge 540

I'm flying my 104" on just 7 channels! (2 elevator, 1 rudder, 2 aileron, 1 throttle, 1 ignition kill) with the Booma matching thingy. It works like a charm. In fact, my servos are so well matched mechanically that the Booma made only very small adjustments. I'm really happy with the setup...

IMAC practice tips for new pilots.

Here's one for you: I live in a part of the country that has a "build season". How can I use my simulator (RF 7.5) to practice IMAC? Are there specific exercises that lend themselves well to simulator training? How to you guys use simulators?

    2015 Joe Nall

I've heard the exact opposite. Several people told me "Don't expect to fly, especially at the 3D line, unless you're a team pilot". Many people have told me that it's quite intimidating. Not sure about the level of truth, but it's making me think twice about taking the 14 hour trip.

    50cc Motor Box Question?

I'm thinking a good interlocking design would be pretty sturdy, though. Is this a common failure mode? I wonder what the situation is with the Redwing airframes, as they pretty much share designs with Aerobeez. Do they have braces? Anyway, if you experts think braces are really crucial, I may...

    50cc Motor Box Question?

I have the Aerobeez 50cc Slick v2 and it survived the season without braces. It looks like it has a pretty sturdy interlocking design. That reminds me I should take off the cowl and inspect it for cracks. :)

What battery charger u got and why?

Home charger: Hyperion i720 Duo - Because it works. Dual HP server power supplies. Field charger: Turnigy twin 400W - Because it's cheap and sturdy and survives being hauled back and forth to the field. And if it doesn't, it's no big deal since it cost almost nothing.
