    Scale Curtiss XP-55 Ascender

Thank you for the compliments, I decided to make the canards traditional built-up construction. I felt it might make them a bit lighter and as it turned out for once I was correct! I just finished glassing the first side of the canards but before I did that I had to get a "all together" shot.

Great photo's of the "sole survivor" XP-55, If this thing does fly I may make a trip to The Air Zoo to see this one. I have been getting quite a bit done on mine, just have not taken any pictures of the progress. I have a new computer and as of yet have not spent any time messing with trying to...

Oh yea, no paint, no pneumatic gear system, no wing belly pan, no gear doors, no canopy glass or cockpit details, only the bear minimum that will make it fly. Only if the silly thing flies will it really get finished.

It looks to me like you "did it right", I think you'll have a winner when your done. Got a bit more done today, drilled the gear mounts for the retracts and installed the blind nuts so I could finally bolt in the gear and set it up on it's feet.

From what I've seen of your model it has a much better chance of surviving it's first flight than my thing does! My prediction is that you will end up with a great flying model, my crystal ball is kinda foggy on the future of my project:concern:

Hopefully it will be in one piece after the first flight also!

Today was a "mile stone" for the Ascender build. The wing can now be bolted to the fuse and it's all straight!

You are very welcome Bartman:) It sounds like all you need is a jar, 2 zip ties, and a piece of tubing that will fit your nozzle and you'll be in business. My wife and I go thru salad dressing quite a bit so I just save the jars for spraying stuff like tooling gel coat and just throw them away...

Now back to the Ascender build, today I glassed the lower wing surface. I'll let this cure over night, do a bit of sanding around the edges tomorrow and then glass the top.

First off let me set the record straight, I screwed up when I told you guys I use 6oz chopped strand matt to make my molds! I was glassing my Ascender wing today and took a look at the matt, turns out it is 1.5oz matt, sorry about that:) Now for your question about how do you spray tooling gel...

One ting that I forgot to tell you is that I make my actual parts out of epoxy, not polyester resin. For some reason I got in the habit of using polyester resin for the molds, it is a bit cheaper than epoxy but other than that I can think of no advantage. Here is a couple of photo's of the 109E...

Hey JetPainter, Sorry in taking so long in posting for you. Here is a short run down on my mold making methods, once you have the plug in the parting board and the clay has sealed the gap around the edge you are ready for several coats of wax. Once the wax is done then I spray a coat of PVA mold...

I must apologize for failing to finish my "mold making" series! I just got off work tonight and the wife & I are headed down to Mac Hodges field in the morning for an IMAC contest this weekend(we take 2 days). I promise when we get back I will finish my "how to" series and hopefully give you...

    For Sale PAU Edge 540T

Thank you for the "free advertising" HRRC Flyer! I do appreciate the compliments, maybe it will help sell it? I finally sat down and added up all the stuff in this model, the price is not firm but I'm not going to give it away either. $2,217.81 I'll try to post a list of all the parts, I...

    For Sale PAU Edge 540T

I put this thing together for the sole purpose of getting my friend out to an IMAC contest, now that it has done it's job I really have no need for the thing and IMAC is just not my cup of tea. It is a 50cc PAU Edge 540T that I did some mods to, I wanted it to be strictly an IMAC plane and so it...

Scale 50cc Scratch Build From My Own Design Revisited

Looking great! Your up to the part I enjoy the most, painting. That thing sure has some nice curves to it, it would make a great subject for an all glass fuse (hint....hint) Larry B

That sounds good but then I would have to let the shop vac run over night because I use super slow cure epoxy. I don't have to worry about burning up my 500 lb stepping stone weights:pink_epic:

I have been told that using the vacuum bag technique works well, I just don't have a vacuum pump. I do however have 500lbs of stepping stones;)
