Last few nights have been very busy but managed to squeeze in some build time. I got the aluminum angle fixture set up and laid out the LH side of the fuse. This part actually goes pretty fast. I forgot to take a few pics and will have to do so but first step is to do the scarf joint cuts for...

Glassed the first half of the new w/p mold night before and last night removed the plug from it. Turned out ok but will have to do a little polishing to clean out some dirt particles from the PVA as usual. Tonight I’ll make the second half.

Spent some trim last night working on new W/P plug. Not going into a lot of detail but thought I would show a few of the steps. Using my make shift line drawer I traced around the pant plug and then used a x- knife to cut the foam. This gets me fairly close with a little fine tuning. After...

3D Fibertech Hyperlite Slick 540 Build Thread

Looks great Carl. Soothing about vacuum bagged parts is the even feel different to the touch over weighted parts. Like Terry said only sand the surface that needs to mate to another surface and do all the profile surface sanding last. Kind of a dumb rule of mine but don't sand areas until close...

I can rest assure you that paint will stick to PETG. Not knowing any better when I first started making canopy plugs I used paint to paint the plug. After pulling the canopy most all the painted surface stuck to the canopy and the plug was crap. Like anything before painting the surface PETG...

Next step was on the landing gear area. I use 3/8” balsa Sq stock for the bracing on the underside of the mid plate as in pic1 and pic2. Then I glued in the landing gear plate. I used oak rails for gear plate support and more 3/8” balsa sq-stock for the verticals. All the balsa is glued in with...

    3D 75cc 106" HyperLITE Slick 540 by Fibertech N More

I was able to get some more done over the weekend. Now that I have all the parts joined for a test fit on the motor box it was time to start on gluing. I didn’t glue the top plate or the landing gear plate in at first to allow an easier access to fitting the balsa tri stock. Two of my machine...

Just saw you second post. Yes good to tape up the outside first. Make sure and sand outside of fuse also.

I use West systems only. Resin is 105 and I use slow hardener 206 for all my parts. I have tried some other brands but like the west systems better. Some may like polyester but I have many molds that were made with poly from years back and they all have cracks in them. For you project if you can...

Yes Terry is correct on strength and weight there is also hug amount of desing time savings and also build time. Some of it depends on the type of airframe also. Cutting foam looks easy and some of it is but there are some parts that can be a real PITA also. There is a fare amount of tweaking if...

It's early but best guess at this time would be between $7-800. Only a small differnece in materials between the 35%-42%.
