Awesome "Trailer Plane" the Multiplex - Rockstar

Where I live it's damn windy so the smaller stuff is nice to run out somewhere and get some flights in when the rare free time occurs during low winds.

Awesome "Trailer Plane" the Multiplex - Rockstar

How do you put the battery in? I'm guessing there is a hatch in front of the top wing support on the fuse?

    IMAC Build: Dalton Extra 300

Not too much to report on. I got some new battery trays for one of my helis so I was playing around with those last night. The rest of the time was spent cleaning off part of my workbench. I'm probably going to glue the front of the turtle deck on and work on the rear part. One side is...

3D Bandsaw for Building RC Planes?

I read the Ryobi was crap but maybe they've improved it since going to the new green one.

3D Bandsaw for Building RC Planes?

Well, like I said, it's primarily just to cut the counter balance on the rudder cleanly. I may also use it to cut out the elevators and the rest of the rudder.

Well, the turtle deck is on. I began by putting masking tape on a couple pieces of angle aluminum so if the glue got on it, I can still pull it off. It seems that I should have good contact between the 3/32" balsa strips and the turtle deck lower surface. Masking tape was also used to pull...

I think you've been moving pretty fast... Dalton Aviation could be in the ARF business if they needed kits built this fast.

The phenolics are pretty much glued in. I just need to go around the horizontal stab tube on the outside to fill in any gaps. I also started to cut open the slots for the elevator servo wires. They're not clean yet, but I'll take a sanding drum and clean them up later. After that, I got...

3D Bandsaw for Building RC Planes?

I'm going to be starting to cut out the control surfaces on my Dalton 300 soon. For the ailerons, I'm going to use a small box cutter and a straight edge. I will probably do the same with the elevators but I might try a bandsaw since they're smaller and easier to handle. I'm also thinking...

    IMAC Build: Dalton Extra 300

It's a busy time of year but I found a little time to work on the Dalton 300 last night. I mixed up some more 30 minute epoxy with milled fiberglass and finished filling in the gaps for the new anti-rotation dowels. I put the remainder around one side of wing tube on the outside of the fuse...

Very nice Cam. I for sure will do something similar to marking the where the anti-rotation dowels go and probably also place the servo boxes before sheeting the wing on my next build (if I ever finish the one I'm on). I thought about doing the boxes before sheeting on my current build but I...

3D Number of Hinges for a 40% Plane?

I'm hoping to make an order to Dalton to get the anti-rotation bushings and probably also buy some hinges. I may go Robart and I may go with the Kavan's so I need to make my mind up. What should the spacing on the hinges be?

After the epoxy set up, I decided to go ahead and try once more to set the incidence on the wings before I fill in the rest of the gaps around the new anti-rotation dowels. Because I had drilled out one of the sides of the fuse for the 1/4-20 bolts yesterday, I cut some small pieces of ply and...

Ok, I used the drywall bit and cleaned out around each of the hard points. I only went down 5/16-3/8" and I did end up taking off some of the dowel that make up the hard point. However, since mine extend further into the wing and this is just to make sure there is not a material between the...

That is right, they are the hard point for the wing pins. My concern is that the incidence could change slightly as they are not glued to the plywood root rib glued to the cores.

Anti-rotation pins are glued into the stabs.

I went back to working on the incidences this afternoon. The tail is done and with the retention bolts, I was able to adjust it and keep the stabs at 0 degrees pretty easily so they should be within 0.05 degrees of each other. I rechecked the stab incidence using the 1/4" bit like it was the...

ZDZ USA Is Bringing ZDZ Brand Back to the US! Whoo Hoo!

Interesting info. Where did you get that? 40:1 is not that different from 35:1 so having to change oil ratio for my DA 60 or any other engines I get wouldn't be that big of a deal. Hell, I might start mixing 32:1 anyways.
