I just tried a 5MB PDF, too large, this one went no problem. Wonder where the limit is?

Scale Wendell Hostetler 30% PA-28 Cherokee Build

The second part came out of the mold at 12 1/2 ounces, I will be using this one. Fitted the canopy to 1/8" balsa formers and side rails, it is joined with a mixture of epoxy and colloidal silica. Once this cures I plan to glass the canopy to the balsa side rail with 4 ounce cloth. After the...

Worked on the dash today. Found a photo that I like on Airliners.net. Made a cardboard template and sent it off to SAC Midwest for a price estimate. Looking at the yokes, need a 3d printer and someone who knows how to use it.

As the mold warmed up in the sun, the canopy began releasing for the the PVA as seen by the green tint areas, I expect this will come out easy. Rain tomorrow so no more basking but the sun has speed up the curing process.

I put the second layer of 8 ounce cloth on this morning. I should pull the part out tomorrow evening. I have the mold basking in the sun right now to speed up the cure on the last layer. My test piece with one layer of 8 ounce just didn't feel stiff enough. Layers 2 and 3 were installed as...

To hold the mold in place I used 1"x 10" sheeting, another $15 at Lowes. It really helps having the mold on firm ground. I started waxing without the supports and decided it wasn't goin to work. Before taking the photo I sopped up the excess resin in the bottom of the mold with paper towels...

Put 15 coats of Partall #2 wax and 3 coats of Partall #10 PVA on the mold. then got the first 4 ounce glass cloth on. In the past I used West Systems products, trying a different product from US Composites based on reading here on the web. The US Composites products are cheaper also, $55 for 3...

The mold is complete. There are a few bubbles that occurred, not sure why but suspect working in the sun had something to do with it. I can patch them up with putty. The balsa work plug was destroyed in the removal. Going to make two fiberglass parts then make the cement plugs. Rather...

Spent a lot of time recently working on the "new to me" mill, time to get back on the Cherokee. Mounted the canopy plug to a dry eraser board purchased at Lowes, then put on 14 coats of wax, sprayed the last coat of release film this morning. Hope to lay up the mold tomorrow. It will get to...

    Mini lathe (and mill) discussion.

A drill press is still handy, drilling on a mill can be a pain. If I'm just drilling holes, I would normally prefer the drill press.
