Pilot 40% 330 Recover and Build

Wow... been a while since I pulled an all nighter! But I did it. Long about 5:30 I had the bottom stripes layed down on the 330 left wing. Wow... I've heard of seeing stars but never seen so many stripes. Gonna be a good lookin' Zebra I'm a thinking. Well, I hope it looks good. Lot of hard work...

Took a lil nappy earlier and now I'm up for a while. Might just as well do some covering right. Do I feel an all nighter coming on? Someone brew up a lot of "Joe" and keep my cup full. Got a start and irons are still hot. Let's do this! Top skin down, time for the top aileron skin. Then...

The 'What did you do in your workshop tonight?' thread

No kidding, right? After the first auto-disembarking prop, I figured there had to be a better way. When the second prop loosened but did not find open air, I decided I was just not going to take the chance. I bought special double lock nuts and reefed them suckers down. Even my Saito 180's...

Pilot 40% 330 Recover and Build

Not really a pain. Just time consuming. These 330 wings are the first I've seen with next to no structure around the horns. Simple blocks affixed to the aft side of the aileron leading edge. Covered at the factory "before" the horns are inserted, I can't see a problem. But since they are in...

Ok, here we go again fellas. I was actually going to sleep in since I have the weekend off. Yeah, no. Not so much. Apparently my natural internal alarm clock went off at 4 a.m., so here I am. Doing laundry, washing dishes, cleaning house aaaaand.... covering the left wing for the 330. Got a good...

Good to hear Kelly. Yup, production codes do help in ordering replacement parts. Thankfully Tony keeps everyone straight on correct versions. I'll bet you're excited to get the new fuse. Surely you'll keep us posted on progress?!? I definately will post more photos of the 330 as I proceed...

SOLD! NIB 50% Christen Eagle Kit

Sorry I'm so late in responding. I honestly got side tracked with all my "schtuff" here. How goes it? Get that bird flown yet? How'd it go. My friends is still not complete yet. Lol. I think he is more side tracked than I. Ah but to his defense, he has a couple of race cars and is constantly...

A small update... more covering and more stars.... I really didn't like the angle of the silver stars. So thanks to my awesome son, @Shayne Epley I now have more uniform silver stars. I think it looks so much better. One wing to go. We're getting there.

Well gents, it goes something like this. I attempted doing a simple sand then using Wings West paint. It was a terrible and horrible mess. I am not about to take a chance with over a hundred dollars worth of paint. I'm not that good of a painter to start with. Now let's suppose "someone" we all...

Ah! Now this I am familiar with. I really don't want to hurt the gelcoat, but I am sure if I supervised the process this stuff should work great.

Aww...thanks. I appreciate your comment Mike. Means a lot. Hmm, well there I go. Was hoping someone or Doug would chime in with a little suggestive help. Ugh, hate sanding old paint off. I have to strip the canopy too. Will this also work for that without damaging it?

Discussion The I’m going out flying thread 2018

Life does have a way of getting us sidetracked doesn't it? Just glad you found your way home. Wow...that is a bunch of really...REALLY nice birds. Looks as though you all had a very nice turn out. That is so awesome. Loved looking at all those awesome "man toys". Be sure you pop in more...

I took the opportunity today to get some covering done on the 330. It has been a while since I had a 3 days off in a row. So this weekend really helped a ton. I did make some progress. Good but not great. Either I am slowing down or losing my touch. I remember being able to cover an entire wing...

Ok... that makes perfect sense. Is there a reason, (other than cost) that other radio manufacturers don't simply make this industry standard?
