The 'What did you do in your workshop tonight?' thread

You guys are awesome. Thank you all for your input on fuel tank size. And for you @Bartman ...it's been a long time since you were active here at home. Jeez, we had @49dimes doing the dishes and @HRRC Flyer doing the laundry. (My boxers can stand at attention all by themselves) And of course...

The 'What did you do in your workshop tonight?' thread

See, that is also part of the decision behind the larger tanks I have been using. But sadly, I have discovered that with the size of my bigger airframes, the size of the tank relative to its location makes little to no difference whether full at 50 ounces or half full at 20-30 ounces upon...

Scale Nelitz 1/3 scale Cub build

Just getting caught up on your build. Wow, you have some really cool tools. I bet you are enjoying building the parts for the plane just as much as you are enjoying building the plane all together?!

IMAC Aero Tech 35% Velox Custom Build

A little update on the Velox... I have actually made some progress on this build. I haven't had a chance to post any photos but will get some soon. I am fairly pleased with the recent progress. I dare say this is definitely a prelude to the Monster Stang build I plan to do later this year. Stay...

Pilot 40% 330 Recover and Build

Hey everyone..., I thought I would take a minute to give you all a brief update. Though I have no recent photos of the 330, I will go so far as to say I am still working on the scheme. Yes, it is still decided upon. I actually have a friend with a vinyl cutter with some pretty great software...

Discussion The I’m going out flying thread 2018

How about building a canopy that follows the shape and design of the fuse? What material do you plan to use for the actual canpy/cockpit? Maybe a removable canopy/hatch like most arfs?

The 'What did you do in your workshop tonight?' thread

Ok fellas...I have a question for "everyone" that has flown 50cc gas powered planes....a lot. First the brief previous logic. I have always "over" sized the tanks in my planes for the simple fact that "if" I needed that extra time to get a bird down safely, I wanted the fuel reserve to do it...

The 'What did you do in your workshop tonight?' thread

So have we reached a plateau? When I built my first model in 1994, which was not really all that long ago...things were...well what they were. Gas engines were bulky, and not very reliable. Airframes were also bulky. Heavy, tanks made of armor embedded ply wood. And though they flew, only a few...

    Scale 50% Dalotel 165

Man, do I remember those days! Thing I've found is the only real way to cut down on the annoying pitch of a two stroke is to choke the crap put of it with a restrictor. But than performance suffers. That's why I like the Greeves pipes and MTW tuned pipes. Only problem is, few at best... very few...

Awwww! Now isn't that cuuuute?! Lol. Actually that would be great to keep my Pop Top entertained. Some days he thinks he's a cat. Chasing things and bouncing off the walls. Lol

    Scale 50% Dalotel 165

Are you calculating any degree of pressure from the exhaust port to get the correct size exit for best performance, tuning and overall dependability? If so, how are you going about the calculations? Reason I ask, I've been very interested in "matching" exhaust systems to some of my engines. Yes...
