Sport Idiot Boy Builds an Old School World Engines Robin Hood 99 Kit

You make a very good point here about the "servo power bus". And I think (Just to feed our curiosity) I will open up the AR8000 to see if the bind/dat port is electronically isolated from the servo bus. I know it is on the Aura 8 but it is called B port and is an input. I also hope all this...

Sport Idiot Boy Builds an Old School World Engines Robin Hood 99 Kit

I had two separate batteries (25c 2250mah 2s lipos) feeding the AR8000 via heavy wire gage and connectors (18awg / XT60) running through a moded miracle dual switch (replaced the supplied 3 amp DPDT switches with 6 amp DPDT switches). One battery was plugged into the bind / DAT (which I thought...

Thanks for the research / discovery. I tried a felt clunk for the first time but it did not last long enough for me to make a Ya or Na :(. Next plane I do I will give those "neat ones" a try!

Sport Idiot Boy Builds an Old School World Engines Robin Hood 99 Kit

I know of those spots you speak of. Had one at my old flying site. It was a military OLF. Had to have been some "Rosewell" technology they were testing out there :alien:. Now that hind sight is 20/20.... All of my previous gassers except one (Peak Model 330SC ) had Smart Fly power expanders and...

Totally agree. The "dirty" side is way to close to the Rx. This and power hungry servos weigh on my mind the most with this incident.

Back when I had a lot of planes that is exactly what I did but with the ol' trainer air frame. If I bought a new Rx it went in the trainer first for "proving"

Yes it had the remote. It detached when it broke in half. Remote was mounted to back of pipe tunnel.

I had great success with Futaba as long as I kept it all Futaba. When I decided to use blue bird servos Futaba worked great until these new H50B servos showed up and the Futaba gear did not like em. Spektrum however liked em and they worked perfectly. Now these Blue Bird servos are very power...

Mike I see your using DSMX remotes. The AR8000 has a port connection for only one remote. I want to believe in my radio but do you think flying with just one remote could possibly be an issue? What receiver you plan on using?

Looking on the bright side......The first pic is exactly how I found it after impact. All balled up nice and neat ready to be toted off to the scrap heap. Guess I need to get the DL50 rebuilt and sold and a DA 70 bought along with a Pilot Edge. Just don't know if Spektrum going to do any more...

Thanks Paul and Mike. I guess I was overdue. I really rather dumb thumb one because you know for sure what's wrong. Boy I got me some "trust" issues now :nightmare:.

Definitely going to be a long winter.......:cryin:. Now I'm a bit rusty but this is due to radio failure :very_angry:. Both batteries read 90% or better. Damn thing locked up about 200 yards out at about 200 feet up. When I approached the plane it was snapped in half and pulled both power...

Cool The I'm going out flying thread 2017

Thanks Rob. Me and @Exagpilot going out late this afternoon. The 330sc does fly really well. Very similar to the Edge but also can get "Tight" on maneuvers. With the SFG's in place wing rock is non existent. Have not brought it to the deck yet mainly because the poor midrange of the engine. And...

Still waiting for parts to show up for the engine. Got a new carb coming too. Found it on ebay for under 40 to door (got to be china made cuz ALL their parts are under 40 lol). So if I take the cost of the K20wat kit and add the new carb I am barely under 200 for basically a new DL50. Got my...

Sport The Behemoth Yak gets a Behemoth Brother/129" Pilot Yak (2)

Will do. I also have some ZEP leather conditioner/cleaner. Very much like the saddle soap but its consistency is more liquid than paste. I know it leaves the surfaces of my leather chairs very slick and not sticky. My little Yorkie hates the stuff. He slides right off the ottoman trying to make...
