    What's on your bench?

My kit is coming along. Hopefully I will get the fiber glass parts painted this week. Double beveled the tail and did up the quad flaps so it will do some tricks.

    Discussion Choosing an air frame----frustrations!

I had that basic same setup in my first EF 60" Edge and I found it to be too light. It did not have good wind penetration as it was too floatly. I had to up it to a 4s 5000. The EFs really like the 6s 3300 setup better. It is also more efficient. 4s is easier on 12V chargers though.

One style of plane I have been having fun with are the Ultrasticks with the quad flaps you can get some 3D ability and still have the ability to do some bush maneuvers, especially in crow under power. Bigfoot is fun for being able to point the nose down and do a "tactical" approach and take off...

    Discussion Choosing an air frame----frustrations!

Those 2 are the latest generation slicks and have much narrower fuselages. My 89 slick fuse is pretty close to the 104 fuse. I believe the 51 and 89 are one generation and the 42 and 71 are the next one, but I am by no means a 3DHS historian. Not sure where the 126 fits in there. The 71...

12S power systems ideas and options

If only there was a 50cc airframe that was truly built for electric. One of the clubs is installing 24V charging off of solar at one of the close fields so big electric is going to be a bit more practical for me. There are a lot of 700 heli guys there and the president is pretty good as well ;)

    Discussion Choosing an air frame----frustrations!

The 59 slick was similar to my experience with the EF 70 extra. It is slanted more towards the precision side. Mainly they lack extreme pitch authority and are not as agile as the more 3D biased airframes. They both track well, and are loved here locally by some of the older crowd that...

    3DHS 70" Velox

Are the "stock" firewall holes for a Hacker? I was looking at one of the new A50 series before I found that 26cc gasser.

The 10cc was not successful for what I wanted. You had to be way into the power band for 3D flying. This is more a function of the plane being too heavy for the power available. We have a foot of snow and the holiday rush at work will mean probably no progress until February on the 15cc.

    60" Laser-EXP

I had this sort of thing happen on a smartfly equalizer on my H9 35% Extra that was needed to get the plane to work with the DX8. The elevator wires came out when in tension and I lost elevator control. Lots of money in repairs and parts later. Now I zip tie them before they feed into the RX...

    Discussion Choosing an air frame----frustrations!

The 15cc edge is fully 3D capable. Just I can't get the CG to work right without resorting to lead. I am going to do some modifications and get some better pilots to show it off. It is a total experiment and there are a lot of teething problems. The power band is OK. A lot of other...

    3dhs 92" edge 540 !!!

I remember talking to Ken via e-mail 2 years ago about the 50cc motor. I know the quality will be there, but like the DA-35, I will go with the best option that is available, rather than having a airframe sit in storage. The Q80 on the 89 slick was a stupid powerful combo. For me to do a...

    Discussion Choosing an air frame----frustrations!

As far as the internal structure, the Laser is different than the Edge. I picked the Edge for the 15cc gasser because of it's internal structure and ability to modify it. The laser has a one piece structure that goes forward to the firewall and has a huge cowling to cover this up. It is a...

    3dhs 92" edge 540 !!!

I decided against the 87. I have 3 60cc projects in the works and that was just one too many. Still need to pick which motor is going on the 92 and waiting for parts to arrive still. In better news, the USPS is going to deliver the servos that I got off RCG, 4 months ago! Now the guy that...

    3dhs 92" edge 540 !!!

Hmm. Now you are making me consider a 87 SHP. Ah Geez. My buddy flies waay too high. I had no issue flying his plane or yours with the scheme. I do really like the red on the tips as it really helps me with orientation.

    3dhs 92" edge 540 !!!

But does free shipping work on the freight? I thought it just said standard shipping, ups, and usps. A friend has the red scheme in the 74 and had to recover the bottom to be able to see it. Now he flies too high, but the silver scheme is much easier to see with the red tips.

    Extreme Flight 104 Extra

Mine, which ghoffman put together for me which started the thread is only 9 channels. Good to go. I think the 4 servo wing programming might be in there as well instead of the mixes I had to do with the DX-8 on another 35% plane.

    Discussion Choosing an air frame----frustrations!

I have owned ALL of the 30cc airframes from the big 2 and some of the 60" planes. The EF 70" is my least favorite. Not enough pitch authority for my style of flying. The 60" Laser stands out in the bang for you buck category and flys pretty good compared to some of the 30cc planes. Seeing...

Make sure you make it to the Jersey FLI in July. Great time for 3D flying put on by 3DHS and the crew at that club.

12S power systems ideas and options

I have not procured the motor yet. I had a A60-5S on 8s on a 78 extra which I ran all sorts of props from 20x10 to 24x12. Just a matter of finding the correct one for the amp draw you want and how good your packs are. My packs were weak and I had to use the 24" props to get the watts. You can...
